Amin Joseph (born April 26, 1980) is an American actor, director, and producer who has become a recognizable presence in contemporary crime drama and action cinema. He was born in Queens, New York City, and raised in Harlem, absorbing the vibrant cultural tapestry of the city while balancing an Antiguan paternal heritage with a Southern maternal lineage from South Carolina. Joseph attended Rice High School, where his early interest in performance was nurtured, and later graduated from Howard University, a historically Black institution that deepened his understanding of storytelling and African‑American artistic traditions. As a protégé of the Apollo Theater in Harlem, he interned there during his youth, gaining invaluable stage experience that informed his later screen work. His first feature‑film appearance came in 2004 with Sean Baker and Shih‑Ching Tsou’s drama Take Out, marking the start of a steadily expanding filmography. Following his debut, Joseph built a reputation through a series of independent projects and television guest spots, including a 2007 appearance on The Shield and a brief role as an MP in Frank Darabont’s horror thriller The Mist.
