Telepresence robots are wheeled or tracked platforms equipped with cameras, microphones and displays that allow a remote operator to navigate a distant environment and engage face-to-face with on-site participants. Development History

Early telepresence prototypes in the 1990s combined videoconferencing with limited mobility. Commercial models—such as Anybot, Double Robotics and Beam—emerged in the 2010s, offering plug-and-play setups compatible with mainstream videoconference services.
