Hoping to overcome her alcoholism, Emma melissa-carnell travels to the old family homestead cared for by Wayne. A phone call sets the mood, revealing that twenty years have passed since her last visit and that her sleep is haunted by nightmares of being lost in the woods, chased by a shadowy man whenever she tries to sober up. The house feels thick with memory as Emma sorts through her father’s belongings, watches old home videos, and drifts into sleep only to wake to the same, troubling dream.

When Emma dumps the beer she had found in the fridge, a knock at the door interrupts her. A man introduces himself as Johnny Lee, Wayne’s nephew, who lives in a shack in the middle of the woods. Across town, Wayne, drunk and troubled, drifts through a bar, while Emma fights to keep her home secure. The danger escalates as Johnny himself roams the night, and Wayne confronts him in a tense standoff that ends in gunfire. Emma stumbles into the aftermath, only to be knocked aside as the supernatural terror—now fully unleashed—takes hold of the night. The beast drags Wayne into a clearing and kills him, leaving Emma to fend for herself with a kitchen knife, her nerves braided with fear and resolve.

Her flight leads her to a clearing where Beatrix, a woman in red, sits beside a campfire. Emma tries to warn Beatrix of the danger, but Beatrix reveals a chilling truth: she has been writing to the beast for years, and lured it here. The werewolf attacks Beatrix and drags her away, while the creature briefly shifts back to a human form to turn its gaze toward Emma. A dark figure from Emma’s dreams seems to know her, promising she has something powerful inside—like her father before her—and urging her to surrender to it. As the figure speaks, Emma feels a strange warmth rise within her, and the transformation begins, turning fear into something dangerous and new.

In a foray that teases a new fate, Emma heads toward a neighbor’s house for help. A final, ominous tableau unfolds: as she nears safety, the neighbor’s door opens and an older woman asks if she can assist, and the screen fades to black with Emma’s face twisting into a primal roar, signaling a turning point that will redefine who she is going forward.
