Tragedy and the heirloom

In the late 19th century, a werewolf slaughters Charles's family. Before dying, his mother passes down a silver wolf-head amulet—a family heirloom from his legendary grandfather, the Great Hunter. A booby-trapped chandelier crashes down during the attack, killing the beast and sparing Charles.

Becoming a bounty-hunter

Twenty-five years pass and Charles has become a hardened werewolf bounty-hunter. He operates within a harsh tradition that treats lycanthropy as a threat to be eliminated. A new breed of werewolves can transform across three nights in a row, raising the stakes for his team.

Daniel joins the hunt

Daniel, apprenticed to the town's Doc, studies the werewolf victims to understand the creature's behavior. He witnesses Charles expose a scam by rival bounty-hunter Jaeger in front of the townsfolk. Impressed, Daniel offers his help to Charles, who reluctantly accepts.

Love and ambition

Eva, Daniel's wealthy girlfriend, tries to persuade him to study medicine in the city instead of hunting. Her wish is to secure a safer future for him. Stefan, a loyal companion of Charles, flirts with Eva, creating tension with Daniel.

The full moon trap

During the next full moon, Jaeger and his crew attempt to poach Charles's werewolf, but trigger the traps Charles had laid. The werewolf reveals a sharp intellect, contradicting the townsfolk's view of it as a mindless monster. A Romani leader warns that the creature will soon transform at will.

Town crackdown

The townsfolk take matters into their own hands, drawing up alibis and preparing to jail suspects. Daniel's mother Vadoma is locked away, along with Eva's father and the town constable. Fear and suspicion begin to drive neighbors apart.

Guard panic and escape

On the following night, the constable suffers an epileptic seizure and is shot by guards who mistake it for a transformation. In the ensuing panic, guards kill every prisoner except Vadoma and the Romani leader, who escape into the ruins. The town's grip on fear tightens further.

Bait and battle

Jaeger, barely surviving, is used as bait in a new trap devised by Charles's group. The werewolf battles the hunters and wins, but notably does not kill them, signaling its intelligence and control. The hunt grows increasingly personal and dangerous.

Daniel's awakening

Daniel is haunted by nightmares of the monster and wakes with injuries matching the creature’s. He begins to suspect that the monster is himself, revealing the terrifying possibility that he is the werewolf. The seeds of a brutal inner conflict take root.

Dawning suspicion

Charles interrogates the Doctor, confirming the possibility that Daniel could be the werewolf. The Doctor, who trained Daniel to hunt and kill, becomes a pivotal figure in the deepening betrayal. Daniel's fate hangs in the balance as suspicion grows.

The display and the wurdalak

That night, Stefan puts Daniel on display for the townsfolk to witness his transformation. Daniel, still in werewolf form, breaks free of his shackles and escapes, while Stefan’s true power is revealed in his uncanny strength as a wurdalak.

The wurdalak downfall

Stefan, revealed as a hundred-year-old wurdalak, clashes with Daniel and is ultimately impaled on a spike, the wurdalak’s body disintegrating as the strength of the ancient foe collapses. Daniel survives the brutal confrontation but is forever changed by what he has learned.

The doctor’s last order

The Doctor reappears and, still allied with the town's dark power, orders Daniel, now partially transformed, to kill Eva. Charles intervenes by shooting the Doctor from behind, exposing the manipulation. Daniel returns to human form, and Charles frees him, placing the amulet in his hands and proclaiming him the hunter.
