In a final bid to preserve his dignity, Raja Simhan faces death with resolve and asks for a last wish: to be buried alive, clutching a special book that he believes carries meaning beyond the world he leaves behind. He confronts treachery with grit and dies in a way that binds his fate to a mysterious volume.

Fast forward to the present, where Raja Simhan has been reborn as Selva, a young, unemployed man in Chennai trying to find a foothold in the city’s harsh realities. Selva shares a modest life with two male friends who help him land a job, and soon he crosses paths with his love interest, Umayaal. Their bond grows as he navigates new beginnings, even as Umayaal warns him about a man who seems to be closing in on Selva. The tension escalates when Selva and his friend shadow the suspicious figure, only to witness the man burn to death in a sudden, shocking moment.

What the two witnesses don’t realize is that the man worked for a powerful figure named John, a goon and businessman who played a role in Raja Simhan’s past betrayal as Karuna. A grainy video surfaces showing Selva and his friend tailing the man, triggering a dangerous misunderstanding: John believes Selva killed his brother. The fallout quickly spirals out of control, and Selva is kidnapped. In a twist of fate, another captive—someone who previously set a brutal blaze in a pivotal moment—helps Selva break free, and the pair fight their way through John’s henchmen to make their escape. With a dare to face John and clear the air, Selva confronts the looming threat through a confrontation staged over a stolen moment of leverage—a challenge launched via a stolen phone that was in the hands of John’s goons.

The narrative then shifts to AD 1939, when India was still under British rule. In this era, Chezhiyan, the reincarnation of Raja Simhan, and his companion Krishna, who is reborn as John, are introduced along with Viduthalai, an ally playing the security role in Selva’s world. Chezhiyan’s resolve is clear: he will not bow to pressure, even as his rival in the past life—represented by the officer’s son—seeks to overpower him. The two reincarnations clash morally and physically in a tense standoff that exposes the depth of the long-standing feud between these lineages. Chezhiyan stands firm, even when Krishna’s true allegiance comes into question as he allies with the officer’s son in exchange for power. The confrontation intensifies until Chezhiyan is gravely wounded and ultimately falls, leaving Selva to piece together the implications of these revelations.

Meanwhile, the book that binds Raja Simhan’s memory continues to exert a strange, almost magical influence. While reading it in a metro tunnel, a drop of liquid cascades onto the pages, and strange patterns begin to form—an omen that signals something powerful at work. In a moment of fierce determination, Selva slams a conduit, triggering a cascade of events: wires flare to life, the fortifications of John’s operation start to crumble, and the goons who stood in his way fall one by one. The climactic showdown arrives as John lifts a gun to take down Selva, only for a final, fatal intervention to claim John’s life—a metal sheet hurtling through the air to strike him down, bringing the conflict to a brutal, decisive close.
