In 1965, rebellious teenager Heather Fasulo burns down a tree in her yard, an act that leads to significant consequences. Her estranged mother, Alice, and negligent father, Joe, decide to send her away to a boarding school called Falburn Academy, hoping to reform her behavior.

Arrival at Falburn Academy

Heather arrives at Falburn Academy, a remote school located deep in the woods. Despite her father's financial difficulties, headmistress Ms. Traverse agrees to accept Heather, setting the stage for the challenges she will face at this mysterious institution.

New Friendships and Challenges

As Heather begins her new life at Falburn, she forms a close friendship with Marcy Turner. However, they quickly find themselves subjected to bullying and abuse from their classmate Samantha Wise, complicating their adjustment to the terror-filled environment.

Nightmare of Ann

One night, Heather has a haunting nightmare about a student named Ann, who appears covered in blood. The next day, Marcy reveals that Ann was institutionalized after attempting suicide, leaving Heather disturbed and intrigued by the school's dark history.

Discovering the Dark Past

Marcy shares a chilling story about the history of Falburn Academy, mentioning three redheaded sisters who were witches. The sisters allegedly killed the headmistress before disappearing into the woods, deepening the unsettling atmosphere at the school.

Ann's Return

Ann returns from the mental institution, and Heather encounters her in a frail state, expressing fear of being taken by witches. This interaction leads Heather to investigate the strange occurrences and make sense of the ominous events surrounding them.

Mysterious Disappearances

After a series of eerie events, Heather discovers Ann's empty bed, filled with dead leaves, which raises her suspicions about the headmistress's integrity. She attempts to confide in Marcy, but her friend seems altered and secretive.

Confrontation with Samantha

Samantha approaches Heather in the woods, revealing that her seemingly malevolent behavior was an attempt to protect her from the witches running the school. She confides that the milk served to them is poisoned and seeks help from Heather's father to escape.

Samantha's Tragic Fate

After being caught by a school mistress, Samantha is tragically found hanging in the cafeteria. This shocking event drives Heather to inform a police officer about the missing students, but her claims are dismissed by the headmistress.

The Police Investigation

A police officer investigates the missing students' reports and confronts Ms. Traverse, who deceitfully asserts the girls have run away. Soon after, the officer is drawn into the woods and meets a violent end at the hands of supernatural forces.

Escape Attempt

Heather's parents arrive at the academy to take her home, but their escape is thwarted as their car mysteriously flips over. In the chaos, Heather's mother Alice is attacked, while Heather and Joe end up in a hospital recovering from the incident.

The Witch's Ritual

While at the hospital, Heather awakens to find herself wrapped in vines in a foggy room with Ann and Marcy. The teachers reveal themselves as witches who need to possess young women's bodies to escape their entrapment, making Heather the key to their liberation.

Breaking Free

As the witches attempt to complete their ritual to mummify the girls, Joe makes a dramatic entrance, wielding an ax to save Heather and her friends. In a fierce battle, Heather grabs the ax and finishes off the witches, breaking free from the grip of evil.

Escape from Falburn Academy

With the witches defeated, Heather, Joe, and the other girls emerge from the school, walking away as it burns in the background. The ordeal leaves behind the sinister legacy of Falburn Academy, which is consumed by flames.
