A fascinating adventure unfolds around a group of monks, including Saint Columban, who attempt to offer a sacrifice to the legendary monster of Loch Ness. Fast forward to the present day, where Lukas Schust portrays Tim Winter, a boy who awakens with his bracelet glowing, which signals a vivid dream about Loch Ness and the famous monster. However, things take a humorous turn when Eric Winter, played by Hans-Werner Meyer, a somewhat clumsy and overenthusiastic father, embarrasses himself in front of everyone. Eric has organized a tropical vacation to Borneo, but Tim secretly buys tickets online for Inverness, planning to explore Nessie’s legend firsthand.

As they set out on their trip, they are accompanied by the no-nonsense and cheerful taxi driver Emma (played by Nina Kronjäger), who ensures their journey is smooth. Upon reaching the castle called Heartspring, they encounter a keeper who refuses to unload their luggage or prepare any meals, setting a mysterious tone. At the lakeside, Tim’s bracelet once again shines brightly, prompting a flashback to ancient times. In this historical scene, Saint Columban recognizes that Nessie is a male creature of divine origin and makes a pact with druids to safeguard the creature forever. It’s revealed that Lara Schumann (played by Alina Freund) had once given Tim a hippy bracelet to help him focus away from his silver bracelet, symbolizing his connection to Nessie.

In the present, the bracelet guides Tim to a portrait, where strange omens begin to emerge. Behind the painting, he discovers a recently bricked-up hole and a wooden box containing an old map revealing secret passages beneath the lake. Despite Tim’s urgency to share this discovery, his father dismisses his warnings, unable to believe in the legend. Meanwhile, a mysterious beggar, Paul (played by Serge Falck), trails behind Tim and Eric, unnoticed by either. Eric, who has lost his credibility as a supposed investigator into Nessie’s existence, quickly decides to leave and return home.

The storyline intensifies as Sheila (played by Jasmin Schwiers) and her heavily armored team arrive with the intent of hunting Nessie. Sheila’s brash attitude is exemplified when she dismisses her partner’s trustworthiness with a sharp joke and a French kiss, complicating their mission. Paul traps Tim, demanding the location of a hidden map, which Paul himself has concealed. He threatens Lara’s safety to retrieve it. As chaos ensues, the team is forced into a series of daring escapes, involving daring river crossings and frantic diversions, such as throwing soldiers into the water and navigating rapids with Emma guiding them.

The group’s pursuit leads to a confrontation where Sheila falls to her death and Paul narrowly escapes — but not before realizing Tim is following his scent. In a final showdown, Paul shoots Tim, who is wounded but still alive. Oki then whisks Tim back into history—200 years earlier—where Nessie is believed to have perished. There, Tim discovers Nessie’s egg, which signifies new life and hope.

The climax culminates with Oki and Merlin (played by Thomas Fritsch) revealing that Tim is now the guardian of Nessie’s future. As the story closes, Eric and Sheila arrive, and for the first time, the entire group witnesses Nessie alive and well.
