Ram Jackie Shroff is an honest young man who, by accident, hits a stray puppy with his motorbike. He doesn’t abandon it—he takes the pup to the vet and, over time, raises it as his own. The dog grows into a devoted companion, Moti, who stays by Ram’s side through thick and thin. Their bond is a quiet, steadfast reflection of Ram’s good heart.

Their journey brings them to the village ruled by the powerful and corrupt Thakur Vijay Singh Amrish Puri. On the way, Ram’s path crosses with Bijli Poonam Dhillon, a beautiful and compassionate woman who quickly captures Ram’s affection, and soon they fall in love. But the village is not peaceful; Thakur Vijay Singh’s men — especially Munim Banwarilal Govardhan Asrani and Sardarilal Sadashiv Amrapurkar — have exploited the locals and kept the community in fear. Ram’s conscience drives him to stand up for the villagers, turning him into a voice for those who have long been denied justice. He fights for the rights and rewards that Thakur has denied them, marking himself as a thorn in the side of the oppressors.

Thakur Vijay Singh’s corruption extends into his private life as well. He commands two slaves: Sharda Devi Swapna, a widow, and Gopi [Raj Kiran], a mute man who becomes entangled in the power play surrounding Bijli. The conflict tightens as Sardarilal and Banwarilal collide with Ram, only to retreat when they are beaten, while Ram’s influence continues to grow. He even encourages Sharda and Gopi to pursue a life together, supporting their budding relationship in the face of Thakur’s cruelty.

When Ram returns to the city for business, he asks his faithful dog Moti to guard Bijli. Yet Bijli, tired of Moti’s attentions, locks him up, and the situation spirals. Thakur Vijay Singh arrives with Sardarilal and Banwarilal and attempts to rape Bijli. Faced with danger, Bijli stabs herself rather than surrender to the assailants. Her father is left distraught, nearly driven to madness, and Ram reacts with intense grief. He lashes out at Moti, believing the dog failed to protect Bijli, but Sharda and Gopi persuade him that Bijli herself closed the door on danger. In a brutal turn, Ram is killed—gruesomely strangled and stabbed by the trio of villains who meant to ruin his life.

Thakur wastes no time in turning the crime into a setup, framing Gopi for the murder. Gopi is arrested and jailed, while Bijli’s death removes a major obstacle from Thakur’s path. Thakur then fixes his sights on Sharda, kidnapping her and further consolidating his oppressive grip on the village.

The witness to these events, Ram’s loyal [Moti], refuses to remain silent. He retraces the steps of the crime, using his sharpened instincts to track the killers. In a climactic surge of determination, the dog exacts revenge on the villains — first [Sardarilal], then Banwarilal, and finally Thakur Vijay Singh. Ram’s murder is avenged as the dog’s furious vigilante mission unfolds, aided by Gopi, who escapes from custody and helps rescue Sharda from Thakur’s clutches. The film’s title and emotional core come from interwoven flashbacks: Moti lying near his master’s grave, yearning to be reunited, accompanied by the haunting title song “Teri Meherbaniyan,” sung by Jackie Shroff to the dog.
