An ornate gold Vinayaka idol, valued at nearly ₹10 crore (about US$1.2 million), vanishes from the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple after its resident priest, with the aid of a security guard, orchestrates the theft. The idol, believed to be part of a newly identified temple treasure, is sold to a mysterious buyer who dies in a car accident. A kid picks up the idol and passes it to a friend, who in turn sells it to a local goldsmith in Alappuzha for ₹6,000. The goldsmith then hawks it to a wealthy man in Mangalore for ₹37,000, who resells it to another affluent buyer in Shimoga for ₹190,000. From there it moves to a millionaire in Tamil Nadu, is traded in Madurai for ₹6 lakh, and eventually lands with a trader in Hyderabad for ₹11 lakh. The timeline of this illicit journey paints a widening web of greed and danger.

Surya, [Bhanu], and [Ravi] are a tight trio of pickpockets who prey on strangers together. [Swati] is a fearless news reporter whose parents are visiting the United States. She purchases a bright yellow Vespa, only to have it stolen by Surya during a tense chase involving Ravi. After filing a complaint at the police station, Swati spots Surya again and discovers he’s riding her vehicle. Surya, stopped by Swati, claims to be a software engineer working at HP who reportedly bought the bike from a third party. The two strike up a wary friendship, and Surya begins introducing [Bhanu] and [Ravi] as his colleagues at HP, drawing Swati deeper into their orbit.

Meanwhile, [Giri] goes to acquire the idol on behalf of the gangster [Durga Prasad], whose plan is to deliver the idol to a minister in exchange for political protection and the chance to clear his criminal slate. Giri kills the Trader, pockets the money he sent, and delivers the grim news to Durga: the idol is missing. Durga, uneasy at the sight of a bloodstained bag, passes it to his personal lawyer and orders his henchmen to track down Giri and recover the idol.

Giri, under pressure, hides the idol in Swati’s handbag when he crosses paths with her and notes her Vespa’s number. At Swati’s home, Surya’s associate Chotu steals the idol from her handbag and delivers it to Surya. The trio—Surya, Bhanu, and Ravi—then approach [Shankar], who has been contacted by Jogi with a commission offer. [Shankar] aims to purchase the idol for ₹5 crore, but [Ravi] hastily blurts out that they’re lucky to fetch ₹5 lakhs. The group departs Swati’s house that night, toasting a supposed salary hike as their rationale.

The following morning, Durga goes to Swati’s house and searches every corner of her handbag, killing [Giri] right before their eyes and demanding the idol’s whereabouts. While en route to Shankar’s residence, two professional killers pressure the trio to abandon the car as they race to escape law enforcement.

The trio and Swati flee to Swati’s friend Dolly’s house. [Shankar] sells the idol to two Nigerian thugs who contact him via Jogi. One thug fixates on Shankar’s aide Vijji. Offended by Shankar’s refusal to pay his commission, Jogi phones Surya and tells him to seize Shankar’s purse before a handoff occurs, showing a hawala note for leverage. If Surya can deliver the purse, the proceeds will be split among the trio and Jogi. They succeed, tearing the note in half—Surya holds his half, Jogi the other.

Surya learns that Swati has been kidnapped by Durga, who will only release her if the idol is handed over. He calls Shankar to confirm that the idol is in the Novotel, after Shankar gave his half of the note. Jogi then calls Shankar, demanding ₹5 crore in exchange for the other half at the same Novotel.

Meanwhile, Vijji manages to seduce one of the Nigerian thugs, freeing him long enough to obtain the locker code and spirit the idol away. Surya locates the locker code, heads to the room, only to find the locker empty and a new chase underway with the Nigerian gang in pursuit. In the hotel’s cellar, Shankar unveils his half-note and the bag containing ₹5 crore in cash. The chase spirals as the trio, along with Vijji, pile into vehicles, while the Nigerians push their own pursuit forward. Bhanu eventually wrests the idol from Vijji and abandons Vijji on the roadside.

Durga summons Surya to the Dog House to deliver the idol and take Swati away. The gathering at the Dog House expands to include Surya’s convoy, Shankar’s car, Jogi’s vehicle, the Nigerian hoods, and the minister’s men, who await the right moment to strike. A tense Mexican standoff unfolds: Shankar aims at Surya, Surya aims at Jogi, the Nigerian gang aims at Shankar, a gangster eyes Durga, and Durga’s henchman targets the gangster, while the minister is marked by Shankar’s second gun. In the ensuing chaos, nearly everyone is killed, leaving only the trio, Swati, Durga, and one remaining Nigerian thug alive. The Nigerian and Durga shoot each other fatally, and the trio and Swati escape with the idol.

On the road home, Swati confesses her love for Surya to her mother’s presence. The thrill of their escape gives way to a calmer relief as they realize the idol is finally returned to Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple, while Surya quietly works to secure a job at HP before Swati’s parents return. The long, perilous pursuit culminates in a return to ritual and routine, with the treasure safeguarded and a fragile romance testing its resolve against the backdrop of heavy greed and violence.
