Yang Ye becomes trapped behind enemy lines in an abandoned town in front of Wolf Mountain, a siege that will demand every ounce of courage from his kin.

Leading the assault are the eldest son, Yang Yanping, [Ekin Cheng Yee-Kin], and the other six brothers—among them Yang Yan’an [Vic Chou], Yang Yanzhao [Wu Chun], Yang Yanging? (not named here), Yang Yanging? (not named here), Yang Yanding [Apollo Yu], and Yang Yanhui [Jerry Lee]—who bear the family’s banner as they march into battle, facing thousands of Khitan warriors with only a small band of Yang Clan’s elite soldiers.

In Wolf Mountain’s town, the Khitan bombardment intensifies as a fierce, painstaking escape unfolds. The seven brothers manage to extract their father, yet the price is steep: the army’s soldiers perish, and Yang Ye is grievously wounded by a poisoned arrow—mooted as if already hurt in the prior skirmish—and he ultimately chooses death over capture. The seven brothers bear his body home, a solemn pilgrimage born of love and the stubborn will to honor their father with a proper burial and a chance for their mother to see him once more.

Before departure, She Saihua visits a fortune teller who prophesies a grave warning: “Seven will set off, six will return.” The fate of the Yang clan aligns with this ominous slip of paper, and the prophecy becomes a lens through which the ensuing tragedy is understood. The eldest son, Yang Yanping, leads the remaining brothers through the crucible of war, and the struggle culminates in personal sacrifice, misfortune, and a stark test of destiny. Yang Yansi dies after Pan Renmei’s archers pull him down—ordered by Pan Renmei’s command—as vengeance for the peril inflicted upon their forces, a grim reminder of the brutal calculus of war.

Yang Yan’an and Yang Yanzhao, surviving brothers, endure the hardest trials as the Khitan threat presses on. Yelü Yuan himself stalks the family, seeking to end the Yang line, and five of Yang Ye’s sons fall in this running blood feud. Yet the youngest of the surviving siblings, Yang Yanzhao, rises in the crucible of loss to meet the challenge head-on. He defeats Yelü Yuan in a defining duel, a moment that seems to rewrite fate even as the cost of war lingers in the air.

Yang Yanzhao returns with his father’s body and the weapons of his fallen brothers, along with Yelü Yuan’s severed head, a grim trophy that signals the turning tide of the war and the rebirth of the Yang clan’s legend. Though four bodies are recovered and two remain missing, the ceremony of burial and the victory over Yelü Yuan mark a turning point in the clan’s history. Yang Yanzhao later marries Chai Meirong, sealing a personal and political reconciliation that echoes through the dynasty’s future.
