Hours before that deadly ambush, Sandeep Kaur Walia a.k.a. Sandy [Parineeti Chopra] is a top executive at Parivartan Bank, waiting for a dinner with her boss, Parichay [Dinker Sharma], at a sleek, upscale restaurant. The atmosphere is charged with late-night ambition and unspoken tensions as she runs into Purva [Suruchi Aulakh], a journalist turned social gadfly who invites Sandy to a party later in the evening. Outside the restaurant, Sandy’s tension only grows when she meets Satinder Dahiya alias “Pinky” [Arjun Kapoor], a man who claims to be a Haryana police officer and who says Parichay has arranged a car to ferry her to a meeting. Pinky’s brusque, always-on-the-phone manner unsettles Sandy, who is quietly carrying a three-month pregnancy she hasn’t announced to the world yet.

The plan spirals into chaos when the two vehicles are stopped at a police check post and a barrage of gunfire erupts. Pinky, who has been driving behind the SUV, witnesses the massacre and races to a secluded spot to regroup. He contacts his boss Tyagi [Jaideep Ahlawat], a shrewd head of a private security outfit, who tries to calm him down while demanding answers from Sandy, who remains evasive and afraid to reveal too much.

To find cover, Sandy drags Pinky to Purva’s planned party, hoping the sudden change of backdrop will erase the night’s alarming turn. But the police quickly close in on them, and the pair flee again. In a struggle for survival, Pinky attempts to restrain Sandy, but he cannot bring himself to go through with it. A fragile alliance forms as they decide to flee the area, with Sandy proposing she pay Pinky a hefty sum if he will take her across borders. They strike out by train and then by bus toward Pithoragarh, a border town that feels far from Delhi’s glare and danger.

In the bustling market, they seek help from a friendly couple—the Uncle [Raghubir Yadav] and Aunty—who offer a place to stay. The Uncle shares a troubling detail: he has invested in Parivartan Bank’s so-called Swabhiman scheme, to which Sandy is linked. Her heart sinks as she realizes the depth of the scheme’s manipulation. What follows is a startling confession: the Swabhiman scheme was Sandy’s brainchild, designed to rapidly recruit depositors to rescue the bank from a sinking ship. She also reveals a personal betrayal—she had a fling with her boss and became pregnant, a truth Parichay refused to acknowledge, sealing his fate and setting this deadly confrontation in motion.

With mounting desperation, Sandy helps Uncle withdraw money from the scheme, offering the bank manager a chance to embezzle a few million using her intimate knowledge of the operation. The plan appears to unlock a path to safety and leverage, but the cost is steep. That night, as the funds are transferred, Tyagi’s team in Delhi closes in on Sandy and Pinky. The bank manager recognizes Sandy and, in a brutal escalation, attempts to rape her; she fights back, leaving her physically scarred and emotionally shattered, and she suffers a miscarriage that pounds her resolve into steel. Pinky tends to her injuries and, in a moment of shared grief, they cremate the fetus together, a stark symbol of what they’ve both lost.

The trauma redraws their alliance. Pinky, who has grown closer to Sandy in the aftermath, discovers that Uncle and Aunty’s trust has been violated by the same scheme they helped illustrate. They realize the betrayal runs deeper than personal survival; it’s about a bank that used innocent lives as collateral for a larger fraud.

Tyagi tracks Pinky and Sandy to a wedding procession, hoping to flush them out with the wedding as a cover to cross the border. When Pinky calls Tyagi to bargain—surrender in exchange for the million Sandy previously offered—his boss refuses to cut the deal. The rapid shift from alliance to betrayal forces Sandy to take a hard stand: she persuades Pinky to leave her behind and continue toward safety alone. Pinky, in a bold move, cross-dresses to slip past the checkpoint, while Sandy chooses to return to the city, prepared to face the consequences. Knowing that Tyagi’s team will not hesitate to kill her, she eventually surrenders to the local police rather than risking more bloodshed.

In the epilogue, Sandy’s decision to expose Parivartan Bank’s fraud strips away the bank’s veil of legitimacy, even as she pays a personal price. Purva visits her in jail and fills her in on Parichay’s arrest, along with six fraud charges. Purva notes that Sandy could have faced a lighter sentence and more sympathy had she disclosed her miscarriage, but Sandy remains steadfast in her choices. Purva hands her a package from P. Thapa, mailed from Nepal, containing only a few photos of kids dancing in a Nepalese dance school. Sandy recognizes the package as a silent message from Pinky and smiles, a quiet acknowledgment that their risky, intertwined paths may have found a fragile, if somber, closure.
