Rumble Through the Dark 2023

Jack Boucher, an orphan raised by a caring woman named Mary Anne, is faced with difficult circumstances that shape his life. As a young adult, Jack becomes an underground pit fighter known as the Slayer, renowned for his unbeatable streak in dangerous fights. His motivation is rooted in his desire to earn enough money to pay off a debt he owes to a notorious crime figure, Big Momma Sweet, played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste, after borrowing money to cover his mother’s medical treatment.

Despite his skill and determination, Jack begins to realize that his earnings from fighting aren’t sufficient to cover the mounting debt. Desperate, he turns to gambling and manages to secure a significant win that could settle his debt once and for all. However, complications soon arise when Jack discovers that the bank intends to foreclose on his adopted mother’s house, threatening to take away the only home she’s ever known. This grim realization compels him to make one last gamble—using his winnings to pay off the bank—and in the process, he resorts to brutally killing a money collector sent by Big Momma who is trying to recover her money.

On his way home, Jack gets into a violent altercation with Big Momma’s enforcer, which results in him crashing his car into a cornfield. Wounded and exhausted, he stumbles into a nearby bar and quickly passes out. Meanwhile, a woman named Annette, portrayed by Bella Thorne, who works for a traveling carnival, happens to pass through the same field and finds Jack’s lost money, unwittingly complicating his plans further. When Jack regains consciousness, he finds his money missing, adding to his frustration.

In a bid to buy more time, Jack seeks the help of Big Momma and manages to negotiate an extension on his debt. However, the deal comes with strings attached: if he fails to pay, he’ll be forced to return to the pit fighting ring to settle his debt. During this crisis, Jack encounters Annette, who was initially just someone seeking a ride. He rescues her from a dangerous situation involving a rapist at a gas station, and she asks him for a lift. Their bond deepens as Jack visits his adoptive mother to apologize for failing to save the house.

Unbeknownst to Jack, Annette discovers his diary and uncovers the startling truth that he is her long-lost father. This revelation establishes a new emotional connection and leads to a heartfelt reconciliation between father and daughter. As the story progresses, Jack gathers the remaining funds and takes the money to Big Momma, determined to finally clear his debt. Yet, she urges him to fight once more—this time in a match rigged against an opponent much larger than him—for a chance at winning a huge sum of money necessary to reclaim his home.

The final fight is intense and fraught with danger, with Big Momma deliberately stacking the odds against Jack by pitting him against a formidable, larger opponent. Despite the overwhelming challenge, Jack’s resolve and love for his daughter and adoptive mother propel him to victory. His perseverance pays off as he wins the fight and secures enough money to redeem his house, allowing him to live a happy life with his family.
