The film opens in the Dutch Colonial Era of Indonesia, where a tale of forbidden love and violent consequence unfolds. We learn about Raden Soekotjo’s intense feelings for Nyi Soroh, and the moment he musters the courage to visit Nyi’s house to confess his love. But Nyi Soroh has already given her heart to a Dutch sea captain named Von Klingen. The revelation inflames Raden, and in a fit of jealousy and rage, he kills Nyi. This brutal act awakens the Kuntilanak, the guardian spirit of Nyi’s family, setting off a chilling pursuit that will ripple through generations.

Raden’s fear intensifies as the Kuntilanak relentlessly targets Von Klingen, and his attempts to escape only deepen his doom. The pursuit ends with Raden himself falling to the deadly terror, but not before he utters a final warning to a relative: do not undo the rope binding his pocong shroud, for breaking it would release him as a Pocong spirit. This moment marks the beginning of a long, enduring feud that threads through the families involved.

Across the decades, both the Soekotjo and Von Klingen clans find themselves drawn into a spiraling war between the guardians: the Pocong for the Soekotjo lineage and the Kuntilanak for the Von Klingen line. The narrative then centers on the most recent generation, pairing the lives of Vonny Von Klingen and Marcell Soekotjo. Vonny is portrayed as a high school girl, surrounded by two loyal friends, Bi and Noo. Noo is dating Sa, whose closest friend is Big, a tattoo artist who works under Marcell Soekotjo, the very descendant connected to the long-standing feud.

Following a casual visit to the tattoo parlor, the group of friends heads to Vonny’s home. Under Sa’s influence, they impulsively decide to summon a Pocong, an act that unleashes unintended consequences. Meanwhile, the Kuntilanak learns that Vonny might be its new target and moves to protect her, driving the tension higher as the supernatural forces collide. When the Kuntilanak finally arrives, the frightened gathering seeks aid from the Pocong, hoping for a safeguard against this terrifying threat.

The Pocong arrives and manages to repel the Kuntilanak momentarily, yet the confrontation rekindles the ancient feud rather than ending it. After this haunting encounter, Vonny seeks guidance from her grandmother, who reveals a crucial truth: the feud can only be ended if Vonny accepts the burden of controlling the Kuntilanak—learning to wield and restrain its power.

In a dramatic turn, the Pocong possesses Marcell Soekotjo and uses his body to square off against the Kuntilanak at a rapid pace. When the two forces collide, Marcell’s mother Agnes steps into the scene with a stark revelation: the feud can only be resolved if Vonny marries Marcell. Moved by her enduring affection for him, Vonny accepts, takes the ceremonial ring, and breaks the Pocong’s rope, releasing Marcell from possession. With the rope untied and the protective barrier lifted, both the Pocong’s influence and the Kuntilanak’s threat fade away.

The film concludes with a long-awaited peace: the Kuntilanak vanishes, and Vonny, Marcell, and their families are no longer menaced by the ancient conflict. The cycle of fear is broken, and the living generations look forward to a future where love and unity can endure beyond the shadows of the past.
