Oggy and the Cockroaches: The Movie 2013

In a distant, almost mythic moment described as an “extremely long time ago,” a blue amoeba forms in the sea of a mysterious, unevolved world. Its odd presence is mocked by three other amoebas—a purple one, an orange one, and a green one—sparking a frantic chase as the blue creature tries to outpace the taunts. This playful chase sparks a whimsical transformation: the amoebae evolve into a light-blue cat named Oggy Don Michael Paul and a trio of cockroaches, Dee Dee, Joey Tony Sampson, and Marky. The new quartet ends up on a desert island, and the blue cat begins a high-spirited pursuit of his newfound pests.

Jumping forward to the distant past, around 120 Kya, the cats have evolved into Neanderthals living in villages. Oggy and his cousin Jack are pressed to bring fire to their tribe’s chief after Oggy accidentally extinguishes it while chasing the roaches. Oggy’s fear of fire—a memory from a troubled childhood—complicates the task, but tradition and obligation push him to comply. The duo treks toward a volcano as the roaches continue to cause trouble. After scaling the crater, Oggy ventures inside and discovers a surprisingly lush world, only to faint and be captured by hyenas. Their leader, Bob the bulldog, intends to eat him, but a white cat named Olivia nurses Oggy back to health. Oggy bonds with Olivia, while Jack meets her on a dangerous descent. The roaches mislead Bob and his pack toward the trio, trapping Jack and Olivia. With a makeshift torch, Oggy rescues them, the group escapes Bob’s clutches, and they return to the village just in time to rekindle the fire and save the day.

In the medieval tale titled “Prince Oggy II,” Oggy and Jack collaborate on quests laid out by Oggy’s father, a noble king who once defeated the cockroach king. The journey leads them to forest-dwelling Olivia, who was supposed to become a princess but is kidnapped and held in a castle by the predatory roaches. The dynamic shift explores loyalty, courage, and the evolving bond between Oggy and the world around him.

Another chapter, “The Incredible Jack Holmes & Oggy Watson,” nods to the legend of Sherlock Holmes. Dee Dee and Marky, who work for Joey Tony Sampson, steal Olivia’s key to Big Ben. Olivia seeks the help of detective Jack Holmes, with Oggy contributing in his own way. As London’s year comes to a close, hijinks and intrigue collide in a playful mystery across the foggy streets.

In the CGI outing “Oggy-Wan Kenoggy,” a cheeky Star Wars parody, Oggy-Wan Kenoggy—Don Michael Paul (with help from Jack)—voyages through space to hijack a ship. Bob Vader, intent on destroying the world, sends his cockroach minions to thwart him. The duo’s efforts barely dodge peril as they stumble toward disaster: a cannon nearly claims the cockroaches, and Bob’s laser threat looms large. Joey Tony Sampson even consoles Bob with a bittersweet moment, reminding them of their shared past. Bob, however, refuses to be swayed, and the laser targets an unnamed green planet until Jack intervenes. When the fourth timeline ends in a massive explosion, Bob mourns his ruined ship, while the blue cat and the cockroaches—now with their limbs scattered—plunge into the ocean. The animation shifts back to 2D, and the cat’s severed limbs drift away, morphing again into a blue amoeba. The amoeba, once more the butt of jokes from the other amoebas, begins the cycle anew: Oggy and the cockroaches evolve and chase each other once more on the same desert island from the opening scene. After the credits roll, a final offscreen yowl from Oggy triggers the roaches’ laughter, hinting at the enduring, playful chaos of their world.
