Prabhu and Kathir are identical twins whose lives take a dark and fateful turn. In their early years, Kathir is the troublemaker of the pair, capable of violence that scares everyone around him. After a brutal incident where Kathir beats up a neighbor’s child, their father ties Kathir up in the backyard, a moment that marks the start of a chilling spiral. Kathir vanishes overnight, only to return having killed the unnamed psychotic kid who pursued him, but the eerie change in him lingers. He grows more erratic, more dangerous, and soon he turns his cruelty toward Prabhu, imprisoning him in a wooden box and killing their father. Their mother, instead of turning Kathir over to the authorities, seeks the help of a local saint. The saint’s blunt warning—that the twins cannot coexist and must be separated to save one of them—shatters the family. Grief and fear drive the mother to abandon Kathir in a temple and flee with Prabhu, hoping to spare both sons from a fate that seems written in blood.

Years pass, and Prabhu becomes a stable, loving family man with a devoted wife and a daughter. Their quiet life is shattered when Sathya, the daughter, begins showing signs of schizophrenia at around twelve. She speaks to an unknown presence and experiences sleepless nights that intensify as the months go by. Prabhu, concerned for her safety, installs a baby monitor to keep tabs on her while she sleeps. The device becomes a flashpoint when Sathya tears it down and warns that a mysterious voice will kill Prabhu if the monitor remains in place. Desperate for answers, Prabhu seeks help from a psychiatrist, and Sathya insists that the “unknown person” is real—an impression that unsettles the family. To uncover the truth, Prabhu hires a group of young ghostbusters he found online, hoping their gadgets can reveal what Sathya is really experiencing. The nocturnal clues begin to stack up: footprints appear, a locked door resists, and Sathya’s voice returns with eerie clarity. As the team deciphers her Marathi phrases, the team and Prabhu realize that the so-called haunting is tied to a past violence that still pursues Sathya’s life.

The story then travels back in time to reveal Kathir’s brutal history. Abandoned by his mother and Prabhu, Kathir endures a harsh existence that hardens him, turning him into a killer who cannot be controlled. He eventually finds a kind of twisted love with Madhuri, a mute woman, and the couple builds a life in a secluded cabin deep in the forest, where they raise twins, Sonu and Manu. Sonu secretly follows his father on hunting trips and witnesses a terrible truth: Kathir’s killings extend to unwary tourists. Kathir urges Sonu to keep this secret to protect the family, but the truth cannot stay hidden forever. The revelation jolts Sonu and Madhuri, and in a moment of fear and rage, Kathir locks Madhuri and the twins away. Madhuri pleads for mercy, but Kathir refuses to involve the authorities, and tragedy follows as Madhuri is fatally stabbed and Sonu dies in the confusion.

Back in the present, Prabhu, Sathya, the psychiatrist, and Guna—Guna —make their way to Chopda, a town nestled in the North Indian hills among dense forests, where Sathya’s mental state continues to deteriorate. In a bid to save Sathya and Manu, Prabhu visits Sonu’s school with the aim of reaching Manu and establishing a bridge between Sathya’s visions and the living world. Sathya’s signs—marathi speech, gestures, and a growing sense of trust—help her form a connection with Manu, who becomes a key figure in the plan to confront Kathir. Sathya pledges to protect Manu with her uncle Prabhu’s help, and Manu’s cautious guidance adds a human scale to the escalating danger.

Before long, Prabhu confronts the truth about Kathir in a tense, long-awaited reunion. He confesses his knowledge of Kathir’s murderous urges and begs him to leave Manu’s life intact, offering to stay silent rather than go to the authorities. Kathir, however, is unyielding, and a fraught confrontation follows. The confrontation intensifies as Sathya, possessed by Sonu, releases a startling display of archery that aims to stop Kathir from harming Prabhu. Manu uses a different kind of leverage, threatening to leap from a cliff if Kathir does not back down. In a climactic moment, Prabhu fights Kathir alongside Manu’s taut warning. The two men tumble toward the precipice, and Sonu’s presence recedes from Sathya as the danger seems to end in tragedy. Prabhu climbs back to the cliff’s edge, declaring that everything has been resolved and that Kathir is dead. Yet the final moment lingers in ambiguity: Manu asks Prabhu to sense Kathir’s existence through a twin-like telepathic link and to determine whether he truly lies dead, or perhaps lingers somewhere beyond. Prabhu closes his eyes, and the screen cuts to black, leaving the fate of Kathir—and the true balance of the twins—open to interpretation.
