The film opens with a high-tension kidnapping: Daman Singh Bagga and Usman Afridi are seized by a group of Chinese goons and hauled away to Shanghai, instantly pulling the story into motion and setting up a chase that spans time and geography. The moment pivots into a flashback that reveals how the trouble begins.

In this backstory, Guddu accompanies his wife, Harpreet “Happy” Kaur, on a trip to Shanghai for a city concert. The film also introduces a Botany professor with the same nickname, Happy, and the plot quickly complicates when airport security mistakes Happy 2 for Happy 1, pulling both lives into a dangerous tangle. Happy 2 is torn from her reality and held for a ransom, with a contract at the center of the scheme. The contract, it turns out, was actually handed to Javed Ahmed and his son Bilal Ahmed—friends of Happy 1 from a prior chapter—by rival parties who seek leverage through manipulation. In short order, Chang, one of the goons, grows skeptical of Happy 2’s claims, and the stakes rise as he drags Bagga from his wedding in Amritsar and Usman from his farewell in Lahore, dragging more and more people into the conflict.

Back in the present, Chang confirms to Bagga and Afridi that they must coax Happy 2 into delivering Bilal the contract, but they quickly learn that Happy 2 has slipped away. Meanwhile, Happy 1 and Guddu reach the university in Shanghai, only to be directed toward a bland orientation that feels indistinguishable from the rest of institutional life. The search for Happy 2 leads the group to a bar, where she seeks refuge and meets Khushwant Singh Gill, known to friends as Khushi, who works at the Indian embassy. The scene marks a turning point: Khushi’s initial reluctance gives way to support as Happy 2 shares her story. Jassie Gill brings Khushi to life in a way that makes him an essential ally.

Khushi introduces Happy 2 to his boss Adnan Chow, a man of mixed heritage who promises help and a plan. Denzil Smith plays Adnan Chow, and his presence raises the stakes as the conspiracy tightens. As the group moves closer to their goal, Chang and his associates close in, which forces the friends to improvise and improvise hard. They discover that Aman Wadhwa—the erased fiancé of Happy 2—has been located, but the revelation is tangled: Aman is imprisoned, and the court of public opinion grows murkier by the moment. The crew’s attempt to visit him ends with capture, but a quick explanation to the police leads to release and a renewed resolve to get to Aman.

In jail, Aman—played by Aparshakti Khurana—dances in front of fellow prisoners, revealing that he is living in jail to be with his boyfriend. This revelation reframes the entire mission, and Happy 2 persuades Aman to acknowledge his past mistakes and apologize to her father, paving the way for a new alliance. The group heads back toward Shanghai as the chase resumes, and Chang realizes he has mistaken Happy 2 for Happy 1—though the deception continues to ripple through every plan and decision.

That night, Chang kidnaps Happy 2 again with the help of Bagga and Usman, who are too caught up in the moment to fully grasp what they’re doing. The next morning, Khushi receives a call from Adnan, who demands that he leverage Happy 1 to force the hand of Bilal and to move the contract into his control. Khushi rallies the ensemble and suggests staging a concert as a distraction and a platform to locate Guddu, a plan that Aman takes charge of promoting while FAQ coordinates the event.

On the big night, Guddu and Happy 1 make an appearance, and the truth comes to light as the group explains the tangled plot to clear their names and secure the contract. Happy 2, ever restless, slips away from Adnan’s custody once more, and the team—now united with Khushi, Bagga, Usman, Guddu, and Happy 1—stages a daring pursuit. They intercept Adnan’s gang and bring the operation to a police handoff, reclaiming Happy 2 and reuniting her with her father after a long separation. The film closes with a moment of relief and laughter as Bagga finds himself flirting with Happy 2’s cousins, a light note that sits against the heavier revelations of the journey.
