Cameron [Dylan Arnold] walks home, attempting to call Oscar and express his remorse for cheating on Allyson [Andi Matichak], unaware that Oscar has just been killed by Michael Myers [James Jude Courtney]. Shortly after, Cameron encounters Sheriff Hawkins lying wounded on the ground, having been stabbed by Dr. Sartain. As Cameron moves to assist him, Hawkins begins muttering that he should have been the one to kill Michael. The narrative then takes us back to Halloween in Haddonfield in 1978, where a young Hawkins [Thomas Mann] is pursuing Michael Myers during his brutal murder spree. Meanwhile, a boy named Lonnie Elam [Tristian Eggerling] faces taunts from other children before encountering Michael, who nearly approaches him until Hawkins and his partner arrive to intervene. The officers then trail Michael into his old house, where he attacks and tries to strangle Hawkins’ partner. Hawkins attempts to shoot Michael but ends up shooting his own partner in the throat instead. Michael escapes the scene, and the police soon surround him outside the house, while Dr. Samuel Loomis runs in, asking Hawkins whether Michael has killed again—though Hawkins struggles to admit the horrifying truth.

Fast forward to Halloween in 2018, where a couple, Marcus [Michael Smallwood] and Vanessa [Carmela McNeal], enjoy a quiet night until they are disturbed by noise from a nearby table. The scene shifts to Tommy Doyle [Anthony Michael Hall], who, along with fellow survivors Lindsey Wallace [Kyle Richards], Marion Chambers [Nancy Stevens], and an older Lonnie [Robert Longstreet], gather to honor Michael’s victims and reflect on the past horror. Laurie Strode [Jamie Lee Curtis], who had previously believed she left Michael to burn in her home, is rushed to the hospital after an attack, along with her daughter Karen [Judy Greer] and granddaughter Allyson. They discover firefighters heading toward Laurie’s house; she desperately tries to prevent them from entering, fearing Michael is still alive. As the first responders investigate the basement, Michael emerges from hiding, wielding an axe, and kills two firefighters, including one who ventured into the house. He then proceeds to slaughter the remaining first responders, leaving a trail of bodies.

Meanwhile, a group of characters, including Marcus and Vanessa, Tommy and his friends, and others, are alerted to Michael’s escape via social media and news reports. Tommy begins organizing a confrontation, rallying the community with a chant of “Evil dies tonight!” As chaos spreads, Vanessa runs to her car after spotting what seems to be Michael, but the figure quickly drives away. It turns out to be a panicked inmate who escaped with Michael. Michael stalks an elderly couple, Phil and Sondra, attacking Phil violently with a light pole and stabbing Sondra in the throat before taking a knife for himself.

The film continues with the residents’ horrifying encounters with Michael, including pranks by the Big John and Little John in Michael’s old house, who share stories of the infamous murderer. At a hospital, Karen grieves her husband Ray’s death, while Sheriff Barker [Omar Dorsey] informs her that Michael survived the house fire. Cameron [Dylan Arnold] visits Allyson, and she forgives him. Tommy and his allies try to gather more people to fight Michael, leading to a series of tense encounters. Allyson, Cameron, and Lonnie track Michael to a playground, witnessing him holding the severed head of a trick-or-treater, confirming his deadly spree. Michael kills Marion [Nancy Stevens] and Marcus [Michael Smallwood], and Vanessa is tragically shot herself in a failed attempt to stop him.

At the hospital, Laurie wakes up, and in a moment of false hope, Karen claims Michael perished in the fire—a lie that is soon shattered when Hawkins reveals that Michael survived. As Laurie prepares to pursue him, the mob, led by Tommy, tries to capture and kill Michael, who has returned to his old house. They find Lonnie dead, killed by Michael, and Allyson is attacked, breaking her leg during her efforts to escape. Karen intervenes, stabbing Michael with a pitchfork and stealing his mask, prompting a brutal fight with the community members, who beat him down with their fists and weapons before Karen finally stabs him in the neck.

At the hospital, Laurie reflects on Michael’s escalating strength, believing he grows more powerful with each life he takes. Sheriff Brackett [Omar Dorsey] attempts to end Michael’s terror with a shot, but Michael unexpectedly slashes him and proceeds to slaughter the remaining mob, including Tommy, whom he impales. Karen finds her sister, [Karen’s] and Michael surprises her, stabbing her to death. Laurie senses Michael’s sinister presence and, with her resolve hardened, prepares herself for a final confrontation, whispering, >“Happy Halloween, Michael.”<
