Altana absorbs into Shouyou to resurrect him

The Tendoushuu seize the Terminal and its mothership siphons large amounts of Altana into Shouyou’s body to resurrect him and pursue true immortality. Gintoki, Takasugi and Katsura scramble to repel the attack as they split up to cover multiple fronts. Katsura guards Shouyou’s heart while Hitsugi battles him, and Hitsugi ultimately stabs and destroys the heart, revealing a plan to free Utsuro from the curse of immortality.

Ground combat around the Terminal

Inside the Terminal, Shinsengumi, Hyakka, Oniwabanshu and the Kabukicho residents clash with the Tendoushuu forces. Matsudaira fires on ships hovering outside the terminal, trying to cripple Tendoushuu’s assault. The combined defense keeps the Alliance from being overwhelmed as the battle spills through the facility.

Gintoki, Kagura and Shinpachi reach the top

Gintoki reunites with Kagura and Shinpachi and the trio races toward the top of the Terminal. They brace for a climactic confrontation as the fate of Shouyou and the world hinges on their next move. The ascent sets the stage for the top-level showdown with Shouyou and Utsuro.

Takasugi confronts Shouyou’s ship and Shouyou is revived

Takasugi reaches Tendoushuu’s ship only to witness Shouyou be revived and swiftly wipe out the remaining Tendoushuu. Shouyou’s sole wish becomes ending his own life and stopping Utsuro, and he apologizes for not saving his disciples. Takasugi pleads with Shouyou to return to Shoka Sonjuku, but the moment shifts toward another revelation.

Takasugi stabs Shouyou; Utsuro blood takes over

As Shouyou approaches Takasugi with humility and a plea to go back, Takasugi stabs him, revealing that Utsuro’s blood now flows through his own body. This act triggers a massive explosion at the top of the Terminal, throwing the combatants into chaos. The line between ally and foe becomes dangerously blurred as Utsuro’s influence grows.

Gintoki faces Utsuro in Takasugi’s form

Separated from the others, Gintoki squares off against Utsuro, who now manifests in Takasugi’s body. Utsuro realizes Takasugi had not struck him earlier; Takasugi’s self-sacrifice had been in service of destroying Utsuro—assisted by Oboro’s blood in his own body. The duel pits friendship and immortality against a final, desperate act.

Utsuro dies and Takasugi dies

With a final stab in a mortal form, Utsuro loses immortality and dies. Gintoki cradles the dying Takasugi in his arms as he tells him that Gintoki has won again, and Takasugi dies with his faith in his friend intact. The immediate threat dissolves as the top of the Terminal cools from the destruction.

Shouyou evacuated; Altana used to quell energy

Shinpachi and Kagura rescue the wounded Shouyou, who urges everyone to evacuate the Terminal using Sakamoto’s ships. Shouyou uses the Altana within his body to cancel out the energy surge tearing at the Terminal, enabling a controlled withdrawal. Katsura remains behind to ensure the evacuation proceeds safely.

Katsura’s farewell radio and sacrifice

Katsura stays behind and radios Gintoki, explaining that he spent his childhood shielding them from mischief and could not abandon them now. The moment cements his loyalty and the weight of his choices, even as the rest of the Yorozuya escape. The sacrifice reinforces the bonds that tie the trio together.

A future memory: Tama awakens and city reshapes

Some time in the future, Tama wakes with memories of the recent battles, and the city has transformed into Tokyo. The Yorozuya return to normal life and gather at Snack Smile to celebrate with old friends, while the world begins to shift around them.

Kiheitai remnants and Katsura’s fate

Sakamoto writes to Gintoki about Katsura meeting the remnants of Kiheitai, hinting at continued resistance and uneasy alliances in the aftertime. The fragile peace is tempered by the memory of the war and the work still ahead. The future world remains uneasy as new conflicts loom.

Tamako and Altana gates reveal a false memory

Tamako searches for Altana gates and discovers a baby that has emerged from the holes, a potential symbol of renewal. Tama visits the Yorozuya’s old site to find it empty and replaced by futuristic buildings, hinting at a transformed world. Hasegawa reveals a grim truth: Tamako’s memories have been manipulated, exposing a sham ending.
