Chickenhare, alongside his friends Abe and Meg, embarks on an adventurous journey home from a mission at the palace of King Zamban, where they sought the mythical Holy Spork—a remarkable relic that grants the user the ability to consume anything with ease. Upon their return, Chickenhare’s adoptive father, King Peter, identifies a curious marking on the Spork. This revelation propels him to secretly escort the trio to the library for a discussion regarding the enigmatic Groundhog, a creature that possesses the extraordinary ability to traverse time and modify historical events. Utilizing the Spork on a blank parchment uncovers a map to the Isle of Idle Hands, igniting plans for an expedition, although they are oblivious to the two mischievous twin chameleons, Miggie and Rolf, and a chicken archivist named Gina, who overheard their conversation.

In a private moment, Gina confides in Chickenhare, revealing that she is his long-lost sister. She explains the dire situation of their long-lost heritage, claiming that their kin is on the brink of extinction due to the demise of their island’s Tree of Life. Gina hopes to harness the powers of the Groundhog to revive the tree, but King Peter, fearing the consequences, wishes for its destruction. Feeling the weight of responsibility to save his people, Chickenhare makes the bold decision to pilfer the map from Peter, joining forces with Meg, Abe, and Gina to set sail for the Isle of Idle Hands.

Meanwhile, Crolloq, a cunning lynx adventurer with a complicated history involving Meg, learns about the Groundhog’s existence from the chameleons and seeks to seize it for her own, hoping to reclaim Meg’s partnership. Upon reaching Hilly-City, the group employs Carl, a former cartographer turned tattoo artist, who identifies two crucial discrepancies on the map that indicate treasure locations. When Carl attempts to tattoo Chickenhare as a form of payment, the group wisely flees, soon colliding with Crolloq and a band of pigmies. A daring chase ensues, ultimately leading them to escape on gondolas, though Gina suggests they separate to enhance their search.

Crolloq follows Meg and Abe in her airship, prompting Meg to heroically leap from the gondola to distract Crolloq away from Abe. During this time, Abe finds himself wandering in the jungle, where he forms a bond with Squeak, the smallest of the pigmies. Together, they uncover a part of the treasure—a magical shovel designed to focus the Groundhog’s immense power. Meanwhile, Meg finds herself in a tussle with Miggie and Rolf, but ultimately gets overpowered by Crolloq, leading to their both tumbling into a pit. In this dire moment, Meg supports Crolloq through a panic attack, letting her reminisce about their shared past, thus unveiling the depth of their former relationship.

Eventually, Chickenhare stumbles upon the shocking truth that Gina is a hare-chicken hybrid, similar to himself.
