Sameer Behl (Shahid Kapoor) arrives in Mumbai determined to make a name for himself in the Bollywood film industry, driven by his handsome looks and dreams of stardom. Coming from Delhi, where his father runs a saree shop, Sameer’s journey begins with relentless struggles. Despite failing multiple auditions over three years, he remains hopeful and continues to chase his dream, even if his only notable credit is a small Lungi advertisement that barely keeps him afloat financially.

Throughout his time in Mumbai, Sameer’s only close companion is Vikas Bhalla as Gaurav, who frequently borrows money and stays in Sameer’s modest apartment, despite the landlord (Kurush Deboo) constantly complaining. Gaurav’s selfishness becomes evident when he refuses to help Sameer even when he’s in dire need, reflecting the tough reality of friendships in a city driven by survival.

Meanwhile, Genelia D’Souza plays Tina, a talented choreographer who notices Sameer’s dancing skills when he auditions, but she faces the challenge of rampant nepotism that blocks talented outsiders from getting opportunities. She sympathizes with Sameer’s talent but struggles to secure him work in an industry that favors connections over genuine skill. To make ends meet, Sameer briefly takes up a courier job, which he loses due to unpunctuality and taking advance payments.

A turning point occurs when director Mohnish Behl spots Sameer dancing at a club and offers him a role as the lead in a dance-based film. This梦想 come true lifts Sameer’s spirits, as he is cast alongside Tina as the choreographer, with assistant director Jimmy Sharma on the set. Excited but inexperienced, Sameer neglects to secure a proper contract, making his position precarious. As filming begins, he finds himself sleeping in his car, feeling isolated and overwhelmed. His close friend Gaurav, who has now distanced himself, refuses to support him, even avoiding calls and repaying loans.

Desperate for stability, Sameer becomes a dance teacher at a local school run by Principal (Satish Shah), earning just Rs 6000 a month. Though the job is humble, he begins to enjoy working with the students, who are skeptical about dance, calling him “Soyabean” for sleeping in class. Sameer’s passion inspires the students, showing them that dancing is an art rather than just a hobby for losers. The school’s dance team, which previously ranked last in competitions, slowly begins to improve under his guidance.

As the story unfolds, Tina (Genelia D’Souza), who is the elder sister of one of the students, discovers Sameer’s struggles and sees his true dedication. However, disaster strikes when Sameer loses his film role after director Mohnish Behl announces on national TV about a dance competition that will select the film’s lead. Ironically, Sameer is asked to participate in the very contest that could restart his career but has no official contract or guarantee of a role.

Despite setbacks, Sameer finds renewed purpose in helping his students prepare for the competition. When Tina learns he’s been sleeping in his car and is facing the collapse of his dreams, she confronts him about his struggles. Seeing his persistence, she encourages him to audition for a popular television talent show, promising that winning might give him another chance at stardom. During his audition, Sameer dedicates a heartfelt monologue to his mother, revealing his deep emotional connection to his dreams.

Meanwhile, Sameer faces heartbreaking news about his father’s saree shop in Delhi, which has been demolished. Devastated, he decides to leave Mumbai temporarily to visit his father and confront the reality of his family’s struggles. After a heartfelt performance on the show, his father (Vikas Bhalla) is convinced of his talent, urging him to return to Mumbai and pursue his dreams with renewed hope.

Back in Mumbai, Sameer’s entry into the talent show is initially delayed, but his perseverance earns him a chance to perform. His heartfelt effort and raw talent win the judges’ admiration, and he successfully becomes the show’s winner. The movie concludes with Sameer walking the red carpet a year later, now celebrated as a hero, alongside Tina (Genelia D’Souza), symbolizing the fulfillment of his journeys, sacrifices, and unwavering passion to achieve his Bollywood dreams.
