The film unfolds against a long and weary conflict in Colombia between the government and FARC guerrillas, a backdrop that frames a tense, secret mission. A five-member U.S. Navy SEALs team is dispatched to locate a suspected drug cartel cache believed to be arming the rebels. The team is led by LT. Sean Macklin and includes Carter Holter, Kevin Derricks, Steve Gaines, and Greg Armstrong, each bringing a distinct set of skills and experience to a mission that is as dangerous as it is secret.

From the moment the SEALs insert behind enemy lines with a HALO jump, then slip into the Ariari River to infiltrate the perimeter, the plan quickly collides with a startling reality: beneath the surface of a potential peace process lies a high-stakes moment of negotiation between government forces, represented by General Manuel Valez, and guerrilla leaders. The operation’s cover is shattered when a Colombian special forces unit, commanded by Commander Alvaro Cardona, storms the talks, turning a fragile ceasefire into a lethal trap. In the ensuing firefight, Armstrong and Gaines fall, Derricks is captured, and the footage captured by the SEALs is broadcast publicly, triggering outrage and fuelling further violence by the FARC.

As the smoke clears, the Colombian leadership calls for a withdrawal of American forces, and the United States disavows the operation to prevent a full-blown diplomatic crisis. Macklin and Holter push toward extraction but find themselves trapped and pursued, while Derricks is subjected to interrogation by the very forces that destabilized the mission. In the hospital, Derricks reveals that his wife and child were killed in a FARC bombing in Bogotá, a revelation that strengthens his resolve to expose the truth behind the incident.

Rear Admiral Scott Boyano, aware of the broader implications, steps in to assist the SEALs with the NSA’s oversight, helping trace Derricks’ movements to a clandestine location in Villavicencio. After a daring rescue of Derricks, Macklin confronts General Manuel Valez, the lone surviving shooter from the hospital scene, and commits to gathering evidence that will prove their innocence and reduce bloodshed.

As the investigation deepens, Boyano uncovers a troubling conspiracy: the SEALs were set up, with information about the peace talks leaked to the CIA by a liaison, ultimately facilitating the mission. The handler for Rivera, the CIA operative named “Apotequil,” is revealed to be complicit as well, tying Rivera to the wider plot and its deadly consequences. The discovery prompts a race to recover key evidence, including the SEALs’ video camera that holds the witnesses and the sequence of events.

The team retrieves the footage from Greg’s overwatch position and uses it to press Manuel to a rendezvous. They are pursued by Alvaro and Colombian special-forces, and the encounter ends with Manuel and Rivera cornering Macklin and the others. In a tense confrontation, Manuel confesses that Alvaro was working for him and that Rivera’s handler deliberately fed the CIA the information that made the operation possible. The motive is devastating: Manuel seeks to incite a broader conflict that will justify eradicating the FARC and reassert U.S. influence, driven in part by a personal vendetta tied to his family’s death and Colombia’s dependence on foreign aid.

In a final turn, Alvaro turns on Manuel, enabling Macklin to eliminate both Manuel and Rivera. The decisive moment comes when Macklin hands over the incriminating footage to Alvaro, ensuring Manuel’s crimes are exposed. With diplomatic ties restored, the SEALs recover the bodies of their fallen teammates and return home, their mission exposed as a bid for war turned on its head by the pursuit of truth and accountability.
