Meanwhile, Fai’s eager underling, Push-pin, Patrick Tam, steps into Fai’s shadowy role and tries to push Yoyo’s escorts into peddling drugs to customers. He crashes into the underworld’s labyrinth, facing Push-pin and his men in a fierce, chaotic struggle. Cheung and his officers finally intervene, only to find Tung mortally wounded by a steel spike driven into his gut. In a startling turn, Push-pin is killed by one of Fai’s own men, and Tung—though gravely injured—survives the brutal encounter.

With the immediate crisis averted, Tung and Cheung confront the remaining power structure in the precinct’s orbit. They pay a final visit to the triad boss Tai, Arthur Wong Ngok-Tai, the man behind the city’s shadowy balance of power. The two officers pledge to bring Tai down, signaling that the fight against corruption, vengeance, and organized crime will continue beyond this night, and the film closes with a hard-won, unresolved tension: justice is possible, but it will demand more blood, more risk, and more sacrifice from those who walk the edge of the law.
