Batman: Hush 2019

Batman is involved in a complex and perilous mission to rescue a young boy kidnapped by Killer Croc. During the rescue attempt, Catwoman, [Jennifer Morrison], unexpectedly interrupts by stealing the ransom money, creating chaos in Gotham City. As Batman ([Jason O’Mara]) pursues her through the city’s rooftops and alleyways, his grapple unexpectedly fails, causing him to fall and sustain a severe head injury, fracturing his skull. This near-fatal incident leaves him vulnerable, and he is quickly targeted by a group of dangerous criminals.

Fortunately, Huntress, [Hynden Walch], intervenes and saves Batman. Following his recovery, his loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth, [James Garrett], executes his instructions to summon Thomas Elliot, [voiced by Geoffrey Arend], a renowned brain surgeon and Bruce Wayne’s childhood friend. Dr. Elliot performs a delicate operation to remove the broken skull fragments, repairing Batman’s injured brain. This ordeal marks the beginning of a series of revelations, including the understanding that Poison Ivy, [voiced by Tara Strong], manipulated Catwoman with her mind-control powers to steal the ransom, only to later betray her by taking the money herself.

The relationship between Batman and Catwoman, [Jennifer Morrison], blossoms as they develop a mutual trust. Batman, after some hesitation, confides in her about his secret identity, sensing that she is more trustworthy than others. The tension escalates when Killer Croc, [voiced by Adam Gifford], becomes increasingly savage due to his transforming condition, leading to his escape from Arkham Asylum. Batman tracks him to one of Poison Ivy’s abandoned greenhouses, where Croc is eventually captured after a fierce chase.

Their investigation takes them to Metropolis, where Ivy has manipulated Superman, [voiced by Jerry O’Connell], into trying to eliminate Batman. Although under Ivy’s influence, Superman subconsciously resists her commands, holding back from killing Batman. Using a combination of flashbang grenades, hypersonic devices, electroshock, and a kryptonite ring, Batman stalls Superman. Meanwhile, Catwoman cleverly allows Lois Lane to fall from the Daily Planet building but ultimately, Superman breaks free of Ivy’s influence to save Lois, and together they capture Ivy, ending her threat.

The story takes a darker turn during an opera performance in Gotham City, where Harley Quinn, [Hynden Walch], attempts to rob the audience. During the chaos, Dr. Elliot appears to be shot by the Joker, [Jason-Spisak], prompting Batman to retaliate violently against him. Jim Gordon, [Bruce Thomas], intervenes with a superficial gunshot wound, preventing Batman from killing the Joker. Following these events, Dick Grayson, [Sean Maher], returns to Gotham for Thomas Elliot’s funeral. Batman confides in him about his suspicions that a mastermind is orchestrating attacks against his enemies and manipulating the chaos behind the scenes.

Throughout the investigation, a mysterious figure referred to as Hush is revealed to be the person behind many of the sinister plots. Batman and Nightwing, [Sean Maher], uncover evidence suggesting that Ra’s al Ghul, and by extension the League of Assassins, are involved. Batman kidnaps Talia al Ghul, [name unknown], and leaves Catwoman to guard her while he seeks out Ra’s, who reveals that someone from Bruce Wayne’s past has used the Lazarus Pits—most likely Thomas Elliot—to manipulate events.

The plot thickens when Lady Shiva attempts to rescue Talia but is overpowered by her. Batman encounters the current Robin, Tim Drake, but discovers he has been captured by Jason Todd, a Robin believed to be dead. It becomes apparent that Clayface has been impersonating Jason, adding to the chaos. Further clues lead Batman to Harold, a trusted friend and mechanic, who reveals that someone equipped him with a mysterious device in exchange for treatment of his disfigurement. Harold is then murdered by Hush, who is eventually revealed to be Thomas Elliot—a man harboring a deep grudge against the Wayne family, having sabotaged his parents’ vehicle to secure their inheritance and blaming Bruce’s father, Dr. Thomas Wayne, [unknown], for not saving his mother.

The confrontation culminates with Elliot falling into the water after being shot by Harvey Dent, [Maury Sterling], who has returned as Two-Face. His body is never recovered, leaving Elliot’s fate uncertain and hinting that he might still be alive. The true mastermind behind the conspiracy—the Riddler, [Rainn Wilson]—is later uncovered. The Riddler, having used the Lazarus Pit to cure his terminal brain cancer, deduced Batman’s secret identity as Bruce Wayne during his time in the Pit. His motive stemmed from a conflict with Elliot, whom he allied with to carry out the “Hush” plot. Riddler reveals that he knew Batman’s identity but believed that exposing it would be pointless, as it’s a “riddle everyone knows the answer to.” He warns Batman that revealing his secrets to the Riddler could lead to serious repercussions involving the League of Assassins.

As the story advances, Batman faces another mystery—the disappearance of Jason Todd’s body from his grave. Despite Clayface’s impersonation of Jason, his remains are missing, taunting Batman with his greatest failure to save the former Robin. The Riddler’s taunts further unsettle Batman, highlighting unresolved guilt.

In the closing scenes, Batman and Catwoman have a tense exchange. Batman remains suspicious of her, doubting her true knowledge about the entire plot. As she tries to console him, she inadvertently whispers “hush” just before attempting to kiss him, which triggers a fierce reaction. He pushes her away, ending any chance of reconciliation for now. She tells him that their relationship—although born out of circumstances—works because of who they are, and hopes he will someday learn to trust her again. Batman is left contemplating whether trust can be rebuilt, knowing that the darkness of Gotham and the secrets it keeps will continue to challenge him.
