In Los Angeles, a shrewd criminal mastermind, Dave Purvis William Talman, hatches a high-stakes plan to hit an armored car on its final pickup of the day. He rounds up Benny McBride Douglas Fowley, who in turn brings in a pair of able-bodied accomplices: Al Mapes Steve Brodie and Ace Foster Gene Evans. Benny’s motive isn’t just wealth; he’s desperate to win back his wife, Yvonne LeDoux Adele Jergens, a glamorous burlesque dancer who is now entangled with Purvis. The plan seems airtight on paper, a neat sequence of moves designed to outpace the law and walk away with a fortune.

The heist unfolds at Wrigley Field, where the armored car rolls into view and the crew springs into action. A passing police patrol car disrupts the carefully staged moment, and chaos erupts in a hail of gunfire.
