An elderly couple is heartbroken when their only daughter runs away with her lover. In the days that follow, they encounter Amravati, a naive and beautiful girl who has fled her home but cannot recall much else. Rather than involve the police, they choose to welcome her into their lives and raise her as their own.

Life shifts when Arjun, Ajith Kumar, the son of a wealthy businessman, falls in love with Amravati. He finds excuses to visit her house and gradually grows closer to the family. With the help of Amravati’s friend, he manages to bring her into his home without her foster parents noticing and declares his love, marking the start of the happiest days of their lives.

But Amravati’s foster father fears she may elope, so he forbids her to see Arjun, even as he comes to understand that their love is sincere. Then a newspaper reports a missing girl named Angeline who resembles Amravati, and Arjun sees the resemblance and worries it might be Amravati.

A doctor eventually verifies that Amravati is Angeline, the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Angeline’s father and her uncle, who had long tormented the family to claim wealth and Angeline’s hand in marriage, insist that no one learns about him. The pressure grows so intense that the couple considers drastic steps to escape it, and they attempt to kill themselves.
