The story opens with a staged road accident designed to retrieve a crucial file from a man named Choudary. Although Choudary narrowly escapes with the file, the attackers believe the job to be finished. Commissioner Soundarapandian follows a tip about Ashok’s brothers smuggling cargo by air and swings into action by contacting the CBI. The case lands on the desk of officer Rajasekhar, who assigns a capable investigator named Alexander to uncover the truth and stop the smuggling operation.

At the airport, Alexander corners Hari, one of Ashok’s brothers, and discovers drugs concealed inside a prosthetic leg. The confrontation triggers a call from Ashok, who uses his influence to secure Hari’s release after Hari’s accomplices surrender in court. The very next day, Arun, another of Ashok’s brothers, is found dead in mysterious circumstances, prompting Alexander to take up the murder case himself. He suspects that the brothers’ illicit enterprises and political clout are tied to Gandhirajan’s earlier disappearance, a link that hints at a much larger conspiracy.

As Alexander digs deeper, Ashok keeps a watchful eye on his investigation, determined not to be cornered. His inquiries lead him to Priya, a woman whose gold bracelet turns out to connect her to Arun’s murder and Gandhirajan’s case. Priya, Gandhirajan’s daughter, does not know that Alexander is a CBI officer, and she refuses to share any information. She also warns Alexander to stay away, deeply wary of the dangerous people who surround her. Meanwhile, Alexander survives an ambush by a henchman and presses on, aware that he is dealing with more than a simple crime syndicate.

Ashok grows increasingly suspicious of Priya’s involvement and orders his men to search her home for Gandhirajan’s file and to tail her to Bangalore, where she meets her friend Brinda. Priya and Brinda are eventually abducted, but Alexander manages to rescue Priya. Brinda, however, is fatally shot, amplifying the stakes of the investigation. When Priya’s stepmother Thayamma arranges her marriage, she shocks Priya by choosing Alexander as the groom on paper, revealing that Alexander had previously concealed his true identity to protect her. Alexander explains that he is a CBI officer and that Gandhirajan had chosen him as Priya’s future husband to safeguard her, a revelation that leaves Priya exasperated and conflicted.

As the pursuit intensifies, Ashok locates Choudary, whom everyone believed had died in the staged accident, and uses the discovery to intimidate Alexander. A bomb is planted at Alexander’s home by Ashok and Hari, which Alexander successfully defuses, underscoring the peril of their war of nerves. In response, Alexander confronts Ashok at his residence, seeking justice once and for all. Unknown to him, Rajasekhar—his supposed ally—has secretly aligned with Ashok to keep the missing file from surfacing.

Following Thayamma’s advice, Priya accompanies Alexander back to their village to participate in a traditional ritual. At the temple, the bracelet Alexander found at the murder scene prompts Priya to admit something crucial, but Choudary’s sudden interruption distracts Alexander just as the moment seems near. A letter then directs Alexander to meet Choudary, prompting a flashback that reveals Gandhirajan’s past and the events that led to the current crisis.

In the flashback, Arun befriends Gandhirajan but later threatens him to obtain the file detailing Ashok’s brothers’ crimes. Gandhirajan hands the file to Choudary and writes a letter to Alexander requesting protection for Priya. Arun kills Gandhirajan and manipulates Priya into believing he is a well-wisher. Priya escapes, and in a moment of self-defense, she kills Arun. Choudary reveals that he faked his own death to mislead Ashok’s men and exposes Rajasekhar as Ashok’s mole within the system. Before dying at Ashok’s hands, Choudary leaves a cryptic clue, “14596,” which Alexander deciphers as Gandhirajan’s death date—14 May 1996.

With Gandhirajan’s file finally in hand, Alexander visits the grave to confirm the truth and expose Ashok’s hawala fraud schemes and its connections to politicians and government bureaucrats. He plans to broadcast the findings on live television to expose the entire network, but Ashok kidnaps Priya in a bid to force him to surrender the file. Alexander turns the tables, recording Ashok’s confession with hidden cameras and preparing to reveal everything publicly. In the ensuing standoff, Ashok shoots Hari, but Priya is ultimately cleared of Arun’s murder as self-defense.

In the aftermath, Ashok, Rajasekhar, and a cadre of corrupt officials and politicians are arrested. Alexander’s relentless pursuit of truth earns him recognition from the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi, sealing a hard-fought victory against the backroom powers that tried to pull the strings behind Gandhirajan’s disappearance. The case closes with justice served, but the film leaves a lingering reminder of the price paid by those who stand up to entrenched corruption.
