Attack on the zamindar and the orphaning of Radha

Rathnakumar and Mallikadevi are killed by Muthukaruppan's soldiers during an attack on Somanathapuram, leaving Radha orphaned. Their courtier Vijay attempts a rescue but is ambushed. Radha is thrown into the river as the attackers close in.

Twelve years later and search begins

Queen Rajalakshmi mourns her granddaughter Radha's disappearance. The will stipulates that if Radha isn't found within six months, the zamindari wealth will transfer to a trustee for public welfare. Diwan Rajalingam hires Kannan, a small-time bounty hunter, to locate a girl who can impersonate Radha and lay claim to the throne.

Kannan finds a look-alike in Valli

Kannan spots Valli, a nomadic tribal dancer whose facial features resemble Radha. He hatches a plan to secure her cooperation by staging a fake murder and rescue. A colleague pretends to assault Valli on a train, and Kannan steps in to 'rescue' her.

Valli moves in and begins training

Valli moves into Kannan's house, concealing the staged murder. Kannan begins training her in language, etiquette, dress, and body language to convincingly play the lost heiress. Ramanna, the cook, advises her on social cues and staying in character, hoping to keep her there.

Love grows and trust falters

Valli falls in love with Kannan, but he remains wary and dismissive. She insists he quit drinking, and he promises to cut back, though his trust remains fragile. Their evolving dynamic adds tension to the impersonation plan.

Kannan's past is revealed

Ramanna reveals Kannan's tragic past: his friend Sundaram swindled him out of money and his lover Usha abandoned him when fortune turned. Heartbroken, Kannan turned to ruthless money-making and closed himself off from love.

The impersonation continues

Ramanna pleads with Valli to continue the charade, warning that Kannan might relapse into alcoholism if she leaves. Valli agrees to persevere in the plan and stay by his side. Her continued devotion deepens the stakes of the ruse.

Verification and the piano test

Rajalakshmi, convinced by tests from Vijay, Pratap, and Dr Gowtham, accepts Valli as Radha. To seal the judgment, Valli sits at the piano and plays Radha's favorite childhood instrument, triggering an inexplicable recognition. Ramanna hints that Kannan's possessiveness can be stirred by nearby Pratap to test his devotion.

Usha returns and a new threat emerges

Usha reappears as a dancer and is revealed to be Pratap's lover. She pressures Pratap to marry her for wealth, prompting Rajalingam to murder Usha. Kannan relapses into drinking but then vows to confess his love for Radha.

Confession, escape plan, and the double

Radha admits she pretended to love Pratap to manipulate Kannan. They plan a midnight escape, but Rajalingam overhears and tortures Kannan to force silence. Wedding preparations proceed with Veeraiyan, a body double, impersonating Kannan to avoid suspicion.

The prison escape and palace infiltration

In prison, Kannan learns from Valli's foster parents that Valli is the real Radha. They orchestrate an escape, and Kannan, disguised as a spiritual guru, infiltrates the palace, defeats Veeraiyan, and assumes his place to gain Rajalingam's trust.

The treasure pursuit and confrontation

Rajalakshmi reveals the hidden treasury's location to Radha, prompting Rajalingam and Pratap to pursue. Kannan, still in disguise, battles them at the treasury, resulting in a brutal confrontation where Rajalingam stabs Pratap and is exposed.

Proof and arrest

Ramanna and Valli's foster parents arrive with proof—the lion-inscribed pendant—that Radha is the rightful heir. They reveal Radha's true identity, leading to Rajalingam's arrest.
