Tracie Thoms is an accomplished American actress and singer, highly recognized for a number of notable roles in television, film, and stage. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, she discovered her passion for acting at the age of ten. Thoms pursued this interest academically, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Howard University in 1997 followed by attendance at the prestigious Juilliard School’s Drama Division. Her persistent dedication to dramatic arts led to an escalating career, beginning in 2002.

Over the years, Thoms has garnered attention for her engaging performances, particularly for her role as Mahandra McGinty in the series Wonderfalls, Sasha in As If, and homicide detective, Kat Miller, in the CBS crime drama Cold Case. In film, she is best remembered for her portrayal of Joanne Jefferson in the Broadway musical Rent, and Lily in 'The Devil Wears Prada'. Thoms has also made impressive appearances in Death Proof, Brother to Brother, and The Warrior Class to name a few. Her talent isn’t just restricted to screens; she has graced the Broadway stage in productions like A Raisin in the Sun, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, and The Exonerated. In 2016, Thoms even earned an Emmy nomination for her role in the BET.com web series Send Me. She currently stars in the Los Angeles first responders drama 9-1-1 as Karen Wilson, demonstrating her continued dominance in both television and film.
