Steve Vinovich (born January 22, 1945 in Peoria, Illinois) is an American actor whose career spans more than five decades, encompassing film, television, Broadway, and regional theater. After graduating from high school he moved to New York City where he honed his craft in off‑Broadway productions before making his Broadway debut in the late 1960s, a breakthrough that opened doors to a prolific screen career. Vinovich’s first notable screen appearance came in 1979, but he achieved wider recognition when he portrayed B.J. Wert in the 1987 cult classic Mannequin, a role that showcased his talent for blending humor with earnestness. He later cemented his comedic credentials as Dr. Novos in the 1994 holiday hit The Santa Clause, delivering a memorable performance that remains a favorite among audiences during the festive season.
