She is of mixed heritage, with an Italian father which gives her a half‑Italian background that she often celebrates. After completing her A‑Level in performing arts at Chilwell Comprehensive School, she pursued higher education at the University of Salford, graduating with a BA (Hons) in media and performance. Her early exposure to theatre and television set the stage for a versatile career across multiple mediums. Di Martino’s first professional credit appeared in 2004, and she quickly became a recognizable face in British television, joining the long‑running medical drama Casualty as Pauline “Polly” Emerson from 2009 to 2011.
