Sarah Chalke Sarah Louise Christine Chalke was born on August 27, 1976, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and grew up in North Vancouver, British Columbia. The middle child of three daughters, she was raised in a bilingual household where German was spoken at home and she attended a French‑immersion school, giving her fluency in both languages. Her early passion for performance emerged at age eight when she began appearing in musical‑theatre productions, and by twelve she was a reporter for the Canadian children’s series KidZone. Chalke’s breakout television role arrived in 1993 when she was cast as the second Becky Conner on the iconic ABC sitcom Roseanne, a part she would reprise through the series’ original run and later in its 2018 revival and the spin‑off The Conners. In 2001 she joined the ensemble cast of the medical comedy Scrubs as Dr. Elliot Reid, a role she inhabited for the show’s entire nine‑season lifespan, earning a reputation for sharp comedic timing and heartfelt vulnerability. Beyond live‑action work, Chalke has built a substantial voice‑acting résumé, most notably as Beth Smith and Space Beth in the Adult Swim hit Rick and Morty, as well as appearances in Paradise PD and Dogs in Space. Her film credits include Ernest Goes to School, Cake, and the thriller Y2K.
