Sara Lezana Mínguez, born on 5 March 1948 in Madrid, Spain, is a celebrated Spanish flamenco dancer, choreographer, and actress whose career has spanned over six decades. She made her professional debut in 1960 at the prestigious Teatro Valle Inclán in Madrid, performing in Historia de los Tarantos, a production by Alfredo Mañas. This early stage appearance paved the way for her film debut in Los Tarantos alongside the legendary Carmen Amaya, which marked the beginning of a prolific career in Spanish cinema. Throughout the 1960s, Lezana became a recognizable face in Spanish and international cinema, appearing in notable films such as En el extraño viaje directed by Fernando Fernán Gómez, La búsqueda by Angelino Fons, La Carmen opposite Julián Mateos, and Casa Manchada with Stephen Boyd. She also ventured into the spaghetti western genre, taking on roles in Gunfight at Red Sands (1963), Murieta (1963), and Fall of the Mohicans (1965), the latter in which she portrayed Cora Munro. Her early career showcased her versatility and willingness to embrace diverse cinematic styles, from traditional Spanish drama to international westerns. Throughout her acting career, Lezana collaborated with notable figures such as the actor Daniel Martín and the renowned torero Palomo Linares, expanding her presence in both Spanish cultural and cinematic circles. Her filmography includes a wide variety of productions, ranging from dramatic films to television series like La familia Colón (1967), Curro Jiménez (1977), and Avisa a Curro Jiménez (1978). In 1968, she transitioned into entrepreneurship by founding her own dance company, the Ballet Flamenco de Madrid, which toured extensively across Japan, the United States, Canada, South America, and Europe between 1970 and 1980. During this period, she worked closely with guitarist Pepín Salazar, further cementing her reputation as a leading figure in the international flamenco scene. In 1980, Lezana expanded her artistic ventures by opening Casa Sara, a venue where she collaborated with acclaimed guitarists Paco Izquierdo and Rafael Andújar, as well as singers Antonio "Cuquito" de Barbate and Pepe el Malagueño. Through this business, she produced notable shows including Carmen at the Teatro Rialto, España baila flamenco at the Teatro Muñoz Seca, and Flamenco Feeling. Her production El sentimiento was later presented at the Teatro de las Esquinas.
