Roy Thinnes (born April 6, 1938) is an American former television and film actor best remembered for his iconic portrayal of architect‑turned‑reluctant hero David Vincent in the cult classic series The Invaders (1967‑1968). Born in Chicago, Illinois, to a family of German descent, Thinnes served as a military policeman in the United States Army before moving to California, where he attended Los Angeles City College and began pursuing acting. His early career featured guest spots on legendary series such as The Untouchables and Gunsmoke, and he landed a breakthrough role as the philanderer Dr. Phil Brewer on the daytime soap General Hospital from 1963 to 1965, a part that earned him widespread recognition and a flood of fan mail.
