Robert Guy Bathurst, born **22 February 1957** in *Accra, Ghana* (then the Gold Coast), is a distinguished British actor whose career spans over four decades. After a peripatetic childhood that saw his family move from West Africa to Dublin and later to England, Bathurst attended Worth School before reading law at Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he honed his comedic talents with the legendary *Footlights* alongside future stars such as Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson. Though he initially pursued a Bar Vocational Course, his passion for performance led him to abandon a legal career and embark on a full‑time acting path, making his professional stage debut in Michael Frayn’s *Noises Off* at the Savoy Theatre in 1983.
