Rikki Fulton, born Robert Kerr Fulton on 15 April 1924 in Glasgow, Scotland, was a towering figure in Scottish entertainment, celebrated for his razor‑sharp wit and versatile talent. Coming from a modest, non‑theatrical family, he endured a challenging childhood marked by his mother’s post‑natal depression, which forged a solitary yet voracious reader who later channeled his imagination into performance. After leaving school in 1939, a backstage glimpse at the Glasgow Pavilion Theatre sparked his ambition, and despite a wartime stint in the Royal Navy—including surviving the sinking of HMS Ibis—he emerged with the rank of sub‑lieutenant and a determination to pursue acting. Fulton’s early career unfolded in repertory theatre and BBC radio from 1947, gradually shifting to pantomime and revues across Scotland and England, where he honed his comedic timing alongside stars such as Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Logan, and Stanley Baxter.
