Frederick Allan Moranis, also known as Rick Moranis, was born on April 18, 1953, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Making his mark on popular culture with his wide range of comedic skills, this versatile entertainer could be seen in movies, television, and heard over radio frequencies. He began his career as a radio disc jockey in the mid-1970s under the alias 'Rick Allan'. It was the sketch comedy series Second City Television (SCTV) that allowed Moranis to shine in the 1980s, proceeding to star in various Hollywood films, such as Strange Brew, Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. By 1997, Moranis made a conscious decision to retreat from public life to focus on his children after becoming a widower.
