José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal, known as Pedro Pascal, was born on April 2, 1975 in Santiago, Chile. He is a remarkable Chilean and American actor with successful roles in the fourth season of the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones (2014) where he portrayed Oberyn Martell, and the Netflix crime series Narcos (2015–2017) where he played Javier Peña. He later appeared in films such as The Great Wall (2016), Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), The Equalizer 2 (2018), and Triple Frontier (2019). Pascal also starred as Din Djarin in the Disney+ science fiction series The Mandalorian (2019–present) and Joel Miller in the HBO post-apocalyptic drama series The Last of Us (2023–present). His roles in these series established him as an actor known for portraying adoptive father figures. He's also starred in other films like Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) and Gladiator II (2024).

Pascal began his career on stage in 1999 and made his Broadway debut in a 2019 adaptation of King Lear. He was born into an activist family, being the cousin of Andrés Pascal Allende, the nephew of socialist Chilean President Salvador Allende. His family fled Chile when he was nine months old due to political danger and settled in the United States. Pascal was raised primarily in San Antonio, Texas, and Orange County, California. He pursued a career in acting and attended the Orange County School of the Arts and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
