He kickstarted his career with films like Gangster No. 1 (2000), A Knight's Tale (2001), and A Beautiful Mind (2001). His portrayal of Stephen Maturin in the film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) got him nominated for a BAFTA Award. Bettany's filmography includes notable films like Dogville (2003), The Da Vinci Code (2006), Margin Call (2011), Legend (2015), and Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018).
