Pablo Trapero: Movies & Box Office

Pablo Trapero, born October 4, 1971, is a notable Argentine film producer, editor, and director. He was born in San Justo, Argentina, resulting in a career of vast film experiences and prolific projects. In 1999, he launched his directorial journey with his first feature, Mundo Grúa, later gaining recognition as it won the Critics Prize at Venice. Expanding his venture, he opened his production company, Matanza Cine in 2002. Matanza Cine not only produces films for other filmmakers but also serves as a base for Trapero's projects. Several notable films like El Bonaerense (2002), Familia Rodante (2004), and Nacido y Criado (2006) premiered at Cannes, Venice, and Toronto respectively. His talent truly shone through with the film, Leonera, presented in Competition at Cannes, where he collaborated with the gifted Martina Gusman.

Trapero continued to impress with Carancho (2010) and Elefante Blanco (2012), both presented at Un Certain Regard Cannes and critically acclaimed. His dedication to the art of film led him to sit on the main festival juries at respected festivals like Venice, San Sebastian and Locarno. In 2014, he presided over Un Certain Regard in Cannes. The following year saw him become the first South American director to receive France's Chevallier l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. His film, The Clan, secured the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice International Film Festival.
