Pablo Berger Uranga, known professionally as Pablo Berger, is a Spanish film director and screenwriter renowned for his unique storytelling and innovative film styles. Born in 1963 in Bilbao, Spain, Berger's journey into the world of cinema began with his first short film, Mamá, in 1988, followed by his studies at New York University. Here, his short film Truth and Beauty garnered him an Emmy nomination, setting a solid foundation for his filmmaking career. His illustrious career was further strengthened by teaching at the New York Film Academy, which added a distinctive perspective to his own filmmaking. His directorial debut came in 2003 with the film Torremolinos 73, a successful venture that earned him recognition, including the Golden Biznaga at the Málaga Film Festival. The film also received four Goya nominations. His succeeding films, Blancanieves (2012), and Abracadabra (2017) received international acclaim with the former winning ten Goya Awards including Best Film and Best Original Screenplay.
