Naomi Grossman is an American actress, writer, and producer who first captured widespread attention for her haunting portrayal of Pepper, a woman with microcephaly, in the second season of FX’s critically acclaimed anthology series American Horror Story. Born in Denver, Colorado, Grossman was drawn to performance at a young age, starring in community‑theatre productions before honing her craft at Ponderosa High School’s vibrant drama program. A Rotary Youth Exchange stint in Argentina sparked a lifelong love of language, leading her to study Spanish and briefly teach the language after an early setback with a comedy troupe. After graduating with a theater major from Northwestern University—her sole college acceptance—she moved to Los Angeles, joining The Groundlings improv and sketch collective, where she dreamed of a future on Saturday Night Live.
