Mathieu Kassovitz, born on 3 August 1967, is a French actor, film director, film producer, and screenwriter. He is a three-time César Award winner with accolades such as Most Promising Actor for See How They Fall (1994), and Best Film and Best Editing for La Haine (1995). This multi-talented individual is the son of Peter Kassovitz, a film producer, director, and writer, and Chantal Rémy, a film editor. Kassovitz describes himself as being brought up in a world of Jewish humor, influenced by his French Catholic mother and Hungarian Jewish father. As a filmmaker, Kassovitz's body of work reflects both artistic and commercial successes. He gained international fame for directing and acting in La Haine, a film centered around class, race, violence, and police brutality. His other directing credits include The Crimson Rivers and Gothika. Kassovitz also established the film production firm MNP Entreprise in 2000, which is responsible for the co-productions of a number of films, including Avida and Babylon A.D. Besides directing, Kassovitz's acting credits are equally impressive. He is known internationally for his acting role as Nino Quincampoix in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film Amélie, along with smaller roles in Birthday Girl, and The Fifth Element. He also had leading roles in A Self-Made Hero and Amen. Since 2015, he has been a regular on the espionage thriller series The Bureau.
