Estelle, Diane Kruger, is an airline captain who shares a life with her protective husband Guillaume, Mathieu Kassovitz. When a former flame reappears, Ana Marta Nieto, Estelle’s world begins to tilt as she drifts into an affair with Ana. The dynamics of trust and control start to crumble as her private life bleeds into her high-stakes job.

Her seemingly flawless routine is upended when Ana suddenly vanishes, and Estelle becomes determined to find her. Meanwhile, she is plagued by unsettling visions that disrupt her focus up in the cockpit, casting doubt on her grip on reality. A near-collision with another aircraft triggers a flight safety procedure that yields a blood sample, and the test points to anesthesia in her system. Convinced that her husband sedated her to murder Ana, Estelle clings to this fear as fragments of memory begin to resurfaced.

She flees the house only to be struck by a car, a blow that sends her into a hospital bed with more memories to untangle. In the hospital, recollections return in sharper detail: she recalls Ana having sex with another man — the owner of the house — and waiting for others to leave before confronting the scene. She also uncovers a hidden camera Ana used to document Estelle’s moments, a disturbing artifact of Ana’s artistic work. Ana’s reaction when confronted is icy and condescending, and in a moment of rage Estelle grabs a stone and strikes Ana, resulting in Ana’s death.

Estelle’s husband arrives, aiding in the disappearance of Ana’s body into the sea and administering an anesthetic to Estelle that carries the side effect of memory lapses. With the pieces finally fitting, Estelle realizes that she has driven the murder she once thought was committed by another — and yet she chooses to reconcile with Guillaume, leaving the hospital together in a wheelchair bound for home.

The final sequence unfolds on a cliff by the sea: they pause to watch a woman in a red bathing suit emerge from the water, a note of quiet stillness that echoes back to the film’s opening. In that opening moment, Estelle had already bathed at the same location, emerging to glimpse two people on the cliff, one of them in a wheelchair. The movie lingers on memory, guilt, and fragile alliances, presenting a taut portrait of a life unraveled by desire, secrecy, and the fragile line between truth and memory.
