Mark Moses: Movies & Box Office

Mark Moses, born on February 24, 1958, is an American actor best identified for his roles as Paul Young in the ABC comedy-drama Desperate Housewives from 2004 to 2011, and as Herman "Duck" Phillips in the AMC period drama Mad Men from 2007 to 2015. Growing up in New York City, Moses was an active athlete, acting as the quarterback of the varsity football team in his high school. He attended Ithaca College in New York where he initially majored in English. After taking a break to travel, he transferred to New York University, where he graduated with a degree in theatre. He kickstarted his career in the ABC daytime soap opera One Life to Live in 1983 and appeared in a Broadway production in the same year. He has shown considerable versatility throughout his career, playing Ulysses S. Grant in a miniseries, starring in various films by director Oliver Stone, and taking on supporting roles in a wide range of movies from Gettysburg to Bombshell. His leading role in the 1997 romantic comedy-drama Just in Time directed by Shawn Levy is one of his most recognizable roles. He has also appeared in several made-for-television movies and sitcoms and has guest-starred on numerous shows, including Star Trek: Voyager, ER, The West Wing, and Grey's Anatomy. His role in Desperate Housewives earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance in 2005 and 2006. He played a recurring role on AMC's Mad Men, winning another Screen Actors Guild Award in 2009. More recent years saw him in recurring roles on shows like Homeland, Manhattan, and Law & Order True Crime, and as a series regular on the Fox crime drama Deputy. Despite the latter show's cancellation after just one season, Moses's performance left a lasting impression.
