Mark David Duplass, an American filmmaker, actor, writer, and musician, was born on December 7, 1976. In 1996, along with his brother, Jay Duplass, he started the film production company Duplass Brothers Productions, gaining recognition for writing and directing 'The Puffy Chair' (2005), 'Baghead' (2008), 'Cyrus' (2010), 'Jeff, Who Lives at Home' (2011), and 'The Do-Deca-Pentathlon' (2012). As an actor, Duplass gave driven performances in 'Humpday' (2009), 'The League' (2009–2015), 'The Mindy Project' (2012–2014), and multiple others. Notably, his portrayal of Charlie 'Chip' Black in 'The Morning Show' (2019–present) earned him two nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Duplass and his brother have a unique style of ad-libbing off the original script, shooting a number of takes, and editing scenes down 15 to 20 times, which contributed to the originality of their work. His also explored the horror genre with 'Creep' (2014), 'Creep 2' (2017), and the spinoff 'The Creep Tapes' (2024), co-writing, producing, and starring in them. Early in his life, Duplass was born and brought up in New Orleans, Louisiana by parents Cynthia and Lawrence Duplass, growing up with French Cajun, Italian, Ashkenazi Jewish, and German ancestry. Besides his film career, he was also the lead singer of the indie rock band Volcano, I'm Still Excited!!
