As “Aaron” (a name appropriated from one of his numerous victims), a serial killer grappling with a midlife crisis, reaches a pivotal moment in his life, he devises a rather unconventional strategy to rekindle his lost passion. He crafts an advertisement seeking a videographer and subsequently lures Sara, a struggling YouTuber, to his isolated cabin. In this shocking revelation, Aaron discloses that he is, in fact, a serial killer who promises to spare her for the next 24 hours—provided she documents his life on camera. Despite her initial skepticism, Sara decides to film Aaron, seeing the potential for this bizarre partnership to elevate her faltering web series focused on quirky clients from Craigslist.

As the hours pass, Aaron’s efforts to intimidate Sara fall short, as she boldly engages in the madness surrounding him, donning a mask of skepticism even as evidence of his perilous nature mounts. Through the course of the documentary, Aaron finds himself increasingly obsessed with his dark inclinations, sharing with Sara that he plans to conclude their venture with her taking his life. Tension escalates when Aaron orchestrates a feigned suicide attempt, leading Sara to question his authenticity. Yet, upon learning that Aaron’s life was never at risk, Sara chooses to stay and listen as he reveals his innermost thoughts, resulting in an unforeseen romantic encounter.

As the documentary progresses towards its dramatic conclusion, Aaron catches Sara off guard with a proposal for a joint suicide pact. In shock, Sara tries to escape when she witnesses the horrifying act of self-mutilation committed by Aaron, but he retaliates by stabbing her and dragging her into a grave he had previously dug. Just as he delivers his final poignant monologue, Sara, still very much alive, emerges from the grave and strikes him in the back of the head with a shovel, making a harrowing run for freedom.

In the aftermath of this harrowing tale, Sara is inadvertently filmed by an unknown person whistling the same eerie melody from Aaron’s videos. When she notices this individual capturing her on camera, the scene abruptly cuts away, leaving the audience in suspense to contemplate the fates that have intertwined these two troubled lives.
