Liam O'Brien (born May 28, 1976) is an American voice actor, writer, and director renowned for his versatility across anime, video games, and animated series. Raised in Weehawken, New Jersey, he honed his craft at St. Peter’s Preparatory School before studying at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where his passion for performance blossomed into a professional career. After early theater work and a pivotal meeting with fellow voice actor Crispin Freeman, O'Brien transitioned to voice‑over work in New York, eventually relocating to Los Angeles where he could balance his growing family with a demanding schedule. His voice has become iconic in the industry, delivering the stoic Gaara in Naruto, the tormented Vincent Law in Ergo Proxy, and the charismatic Kenzo Tenma in Monster, while also lending his talents to Western cartoons such as Star Wars Rebels and Avengers Assemble.

Beyond character work, O'Brien is celebrated for his contributions behind the microphone: he has written ADR scripts for more than 300 anime episodes, directed voice casts for major titles like The Last of Us and Resident Evil series, and served as a creative force on the groundbreaking actual‑play series Critical Role. In that capacity he portrays beloved Dungeons & Dragons characters including Vax'ildan, Caleb Widogast, and Orym, helping the show achieve Webby and Shorty Award recognition and spawning an Amazon Prime animated adaptation. Married to voice actress Amy Kincaid since 2002, the couple raise two children in Los Angeles while O'Brien continues to inspire fans with his distinctive vocal range, his dedication to craft, and his candid discussions about living with hyperacusis.
