Born on the 3rd of April, 1975, Kornél Mundruczó is a Hungarian film and theatre director with an impressive career spanning across multiple decades. He has directed 18 films, both short and feature-length, between 1998 and 2020. His filmography includes the film 'Johanna', which was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, as well as 'White God', supported by the Hungarian Film Fund and winner of the Prize Un Certain Regard at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. As an accomplished artist, Mundruczó is not limited to films. He also works extensively in theatre and opera, starting out in Hungary and eventually making his mark in renowned theatres worldwide, such as the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and the Vlaamse Opera. He founded his independent theatre company, Proton Theatre, and often works with the same team of actors, considering them as creative partners. Proton Theatre performances have featured in over 110 festivals as of 2020, firmly establishing Mundruczó's enduring influence in the world of the theatre. He was also nominated for the Europe Prize Theatrical Realities of the Europe Theatre Prize.
