Joseph Mawle is an English actor whose career spans stage, television and film, marked by a remarkable ability to convey depth despite a significant hearing impairment. Born on 21 March 1974 in Oxford, Oxfordshire, he grew up on a Warwickshire farm and was diagnosed with severe dyslexia, leading to specialized schooling from ages thirteen to sixteen. After leaving school at sixteen, Mawle pursued acting while working as a fitness instructor and dishwasher, eventually earning a scholarship to the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, from which he graduated in 2002.
