Shell, a seventeen-year-old Shell lives in almost total isolation at a remote Highland petrol station, where her father, Pete, works as a mechanic and faces epilepsy that shapes their daily rhythm. The place is quiet and austere, and Shell’s world largely unfolds through the few customers who pass through. Her two regulars stand out: Adam, a young sawmill worker, and Hugh, a divorced salesman who visits less often yet leaves a mark on her day.
